Guys, I just don't know if it is my own observation but seems my M&P 9C polymer frame is much more scratch resistant then my Glock 19 Gen3. Any of you find this to be true? I can't tell you how many times I stuffed my 9c inside my Fatboy Maxpedition bag, while the zipper rubs up against the frame, yet no marks. Now my Glock 19, I just put on and removed my OEM polymer tactical light and it already scratched the frame and put wear marks. The Glock frame just seems a bit softer I don't think it will make a difference as I never heard of a Glock failing because of that.

Is the Glock painted? It sounds like it is.

I owned a G27 and carried it every day for more than two years. It had no scratches on it when I sold it. I have an M&P 45 that gets used plenty and it has no scratches on it.

You keep bringing up this issue of scratches. I hate to tell you, but that's the life of a carry gun or even one that gets used a lot. I have over 15,000 rounds through this shotgun:


I can guarantee you that I'm way more particular about it than you are with your Glock. Even so, there are a couple of marks on the stock. You'll have to look very close to find them, but they're there.

The point is, stuff that gets used will look used over time. If it's really bothering you, you only have three options:

1. Complain to Glock and see if they'll replace the frame. (unlikely)
2. Stop using the gun and keep it in the safe.
3. Sell the gun.

Otherwise you'll have to deal with the marks.

Wear marks on guns is going to occur but I get where you're coming from on they shouldn't come too easy. I have a 6904 that shows it's wear but I kind of like it! The gun is 100% and my regular companion.

I have an M&P 357c that I bought for just over $300 in the box with 3 mags because someone tried to paint it desert tan and failed miserably leaving it looking pretty bad but near new outside of that. Fortunately they only painted the frame then tried to clean it off so the slide was like new. A little TLC and it turned out fine with me!

I take excellent care of my stuff and would be upset at a "bubba" mark (dropped on the concrete) but the usual holster and firing wear doesn't bother me a bit.

Is that a before-and-after of the same .357c? If so, great job cleaning her up and great find. Those things are like hens teeth.

Same gun. I had been looking for a .357sig because as a hand loader I thought it was a unique round. Then I started seeing the prices on them and that there weren't a bunch of them so when this one popped up for half or less from what I had been seeing I took a chance. I thought if nothing else I could mount the slide and barrel on my 40c but went after the frame on the .357sig to see what I could do. It came out better than expected...so life is good!

edit: The previous owner did at least take out the internals of the frame before painting!

Well after calling Glock today, they told me even if the frame wore out because of normal wear and tear, they would sell me a new frame for $100 dollars! That said could care less how scratched up it would get. I was under the impression you had to buy the whole gun. I know Smith and Wesson will not sell you just a frame. So 100 dollars is nothign
