9mm Shield, inserting 7 round magazine; and costs
Like many here, my 7 round magazine is a little more difficult to get to "seat" than my 8 round magazine in my new Shield. I am not too concerned about it, figuring it will eventually get easier to seat. Can anyone confirm that?
Another question on the 7 round magazine...why are they more expensive, at least on eBay, than the 8 round magazine?
Thanks.

For whatever reason the 7 rounders are a lot harder to find. Maybe S&W makes fewer of them.

You're probably correct. I'm having no trouble finding them, however, they just cost maybe $2 more than the 8 rounders. Seems like it usually goes the other way.....

Why do some people charge more for the 7-round mags?
Many times, it's as simple as being (for those sellers) the 7-round is more popular than the 8-round and people are willing to pay extra.

My 7 round mags are more difficult to seat than my 8 rounders. I hope that gets better with time. For now, I have better luck with a very firm push against the mag base than to smack it in place.

when i bought my first spare mag the 7's were a lot easier to find and the 8's were either pricier, or not available. so i got a 7. this was during last winter, prob dec / jan / feb timeframe
now, they just seem to be easier to find. botach had them both for $25 shipped at once point so i picked up another spare 8 at that point.
looks liek they still have each of them for $25, but no free shipping. they also sell on ebay too. lots of people on here don't like botach. i had no problem buying mags from them.

Who knows... For me, I practice with what I carry. I carry the 7-round mag, so all my extra 'practice' mags are 7-round as well. My 8-round mag has only been out of the box once.
Seems like it goes in spurts... For a while, people can't find 8-round, then, for a while, people can't find 7-round.
Which do YOU prefer? And WHY?

Same as you, and for the same reason. The 7 rounder prints through clothing a bit less than the higher capacity 8 rounder, which will mostly be used at the range.

Well, I just ordered my Shield 9mm so can't answer your question. Will have to wait and see what the difference in fit/feel in my hand is between the two. Common sense is that one extra round is worth it if the two mags can be had for the same price.

The 8 rounders print a bit more under clothing.

It's funny about mag prices. I always laugh when I see 10 round AR P mags cost twice as much as 30 rounders. Who knows?
I use 8 rounders and would gladly trade straight up if it were possible.

I got spoiled with recent prices on AR magazines. I've paid as little as $8 each for the 30 rounders, but my favorites are 20 rounders which generally cost about 25% more. But then I remember paying about $60 many years ago for "pre-ban" 30 round PMI Mini-14 magazines! Ouch!
