i want a pocket pistol, but I want to try before I buy. I rented a LCR 38 and shot only 15 rounds at the range. My hand was too sore to continue.
I haven't found a BG 380 to rent, so I'm hoping you guys can give me some info on how snappy the BG is.
Thanks

It's not as bad as an LCP, but I don't know if that helps. There's just a little more to hang onto than the LCP.
I don't know if a BG380 could survive as a rental gun. Mine couldn't even survive being new.
Stay away from the earlier ones, with the laser. It's useless unless it's dark where you're shooting.

For what it's worth - my wife shoots a little Ruger SR22. She want's to get used to something bigger and has tried my Shield 9 and also Glock 19 and finds the recoil a little too much. A while back a LGS had a S&W rep there with a lot of different models that you could try for free so we shot a BG. While neither of us liked the trigger she didn't find the recoil objectionable.

I have over 200 rounds through mine, will shoot it later today, not a fun pistol like my new .22 Compact but ok for what it is used for. Barks a bit but not objectionable to me.

I could tell you if I could get mine to fire reliably..... But that's another thread.

Seriously though its not too bad.

I have had mine for 2.5 years, and the only problem has been the Laser. I don't find it too snappy, but I usually only do 100 or less rounds per range trip. It is a great pocket gun, conceals easily, and points very instinctively.

BG snap recoil

I have a new BG 380 non-laser pistol. The gun is a perfect pocket gun but it is light and I find it has a lot of snap to it on the recoil. I will admit that I have arthritic hands and can only fire 20 rounds from my BG before it hurts to much. I also have had to drop my .40 cal pistols and switch over to the 9mm due to recoil causing pain in my hands.

I have the BG. I love it. It's not a range toy, it's a tool. It's dead nuts accurate too, which is surprising for the barrel length and sight radius. I practice with it enough to be proficient since it's my EDC. However, I only put about 50 rounds through it per range trip. It is perfect for a pocket carry gun. It has a heavy trigger so I feel safe carrying with the safety off and one in the pipe. I carry mine in a Sticky in my pocket or at 4 O'clock or appendix carry in a N82 Tactical. The Shield ( or SA XDs )will likely be my next. I looked at both but after trying to shove them into my pockets, I settled on the .380. If I could figure out a way to carry an M&Pc in .40 or an XD.40 or XD .40 Mod2, I would consider those on capacity alone...and they are barely bigger than the Shield and XDs. However, I have a small frame and it's hard to conceal when wearing certain clothing. Hence we come full circle back to why I got the BG. I can carry it on any occasion, any clothing. Good luck with your choice.

I got one for my wife she loves it what little she has gotten to shoot it. It is fun to shoot but will make your hand hurt after a while, we've had no issues with hers, but we need to go out and fire it more to make sure it is broken in. I bought a Pachmyr grip sleeve but haven't gotten a chance to fire it to see if the pachmyr helps. I like the size, it fits nice in my motorcycle vest gun pocket and doesn't weigh me down like my Shield.

I shot the old version of the Bodyguard .380 about a year ago. Mind you, I have carpal tunnel. After one mag, it hurt enough that I stopped.

I had a Ruger LCR .38sp for a few months. I really really loved that little revolver. Alas, my hand would get bruised something awful. Kicked like a mule. 10-15 rounds was about it. Oddly, the rental LCR I shot didn't hurt. I put 100 rounds through the rental without a problem. I ended up selling mine.

I do just fine with my 9mm Shield and M&P 9FS.

Thanks, everyone for your thoughts. I am going to try to find a BG 380 to rent. I hope I can handle it because it's the perfect size to for my shorts which I wear most of the time in Florida. If that doesn't work, I'll try a22 magnum revolver. I don't care if it's not a stopping caliber, cause I don't want to kill anyone, but I would like to seriously discourage any threat.

Try a pair of half finger anti vibration gloves, I wear one on my right hand when I'm going to be shooting a lot of rounds, they have a padded palm that dampens the shock.

I love my BG. I carry it on a daily basis, sometimes in a jacket pocket, in a De Santis IWB holster or inside my pants pocket. I like the way it shoots and really don't notice any uncomfortable recoil.

I haven't shot a BG, but the Taurus TPC 380 is lighter and it doesn't recoil bad at ALL.
