Put aside the home boy remarks if possible, I'm a big S&W fan myself. Entering the market for my first .45ACP handgun, mostly for carry and HD. The Gen 3/4 Glocks are finally something I like the feel, but the M&P line has been nothing but impressive... Discuss.

If you "can" hold a G30 , there is much to say for it.
Many !! aftermarket options to allow you to set it up as you want.
BUT it is a "Block"...
The 45c has a much better grip for most people the slide is
more smoothed and better looking[for what that is worth]
BUT the trigger needs "HELP".....
What ever you shoot better.
I tried a Glock 21 with a grip reduction and am now looking at an M&P
and a trigger job.[ for me, a glock would need one too]

I was torn between a glock 36 and the 45c. It all came down to the grip and feel of the gun. The mp45c is a great gun with a really bad trigger. Even the Apex kit didn't help too much. Regardless I still carry the 45c and really like it. I do have to be mindful of reset with it, as there is almost a false reset. The glock trigger stands out when comparing the two, but overall I think the mp is more comfortable to shoot.

Just a few days ago, I was toying with getting either the G30fs or 45c. I fondled both at a gun show, but the 45c won me over is it feels nearly identical to my 9fs. Not to mention it was about $80 cheaper to boot! I fully expected to get the Glock, but the fat grip and price killed it for me.
The salesman was trying to steer me towards the XDs, but that overly aggressive grip and very stiff mag release kept me from buying that one.

The XDs in .45 is a good little gun but the capacity is so limited. I was hoping to maximize the capacity with .45, relatively speaking of course. I currently carry a Shield 9, and love it, but it's almost to small for carry when I have heavy cloths on for the cooler months. I do carry a P226 during the winter and it's on the heavy and bulky side of things. I was wanting the power of the .45ACP in a concealable package that hold about 10 rounds.

Any other thoughts?

45c with a fs mag.

The Glock30sf is a nice shooter have nothing bad to say about it , I also have the 45c I got rid of the 30sf the 45c just fit better for me in my hand and easier for me to CC

I've owned the Glock 30 (x2) and the M&P 45c (x2). I even owned a Glock 30s. I currently have the Glock 30 again. I like the feel of the M&P better, but the Glock 30 shoots better for me and has slightly larger capacity. I carry mine with the 10 round short magazine, but I also carry a 13 round Glock 21 magazine as a spare (sometimes 2). I would really like to get another 30s, but since I retired, I can only buy what is on the CA DOJ "good" list. What a crock.

If I could only choose between those two, it would be the M&P. I've seen the Glock fail too many times so, the edge goes to the M&P.

Had an M&P 45c, and a Glock 30. Still have the Glock. The 45c fit my hand better, and I wanted to like it, but the trigger on mine was really poor, it was not very accurate, even for a sub compact, and it malfunctioned only a couple times in about 500 rounds.

The Glock is more accurate, has a better trigger, and has never malfunctioned in about 1500 rounds.

Now, you could go out and buy one of each, and have the opposite experience from me - each gun is different. But that's my experience with the two. If you are not wedded to plastic, a Commander sized, aluminum frame 1911 with an 8 round mag, and one in the chamber is a nice option....

Interesting as these are two different classes of guns. The M&P45c is almost exactly the same size as a Glock 19 so we are comparing a compact with a sub-compact. The 1st question you need to answer is what do you want a compact or sub-compact. If you want a Sub-Compact then the choice is somewhat easier, Glock. The you really need to decide if you want the brick called the G30 or the trimmer G30S or the smaller G36. I'd go G36. If your answer is Compact go with the M&P45c.
Also don't be confused by talk of "Bad" M&P triggers and such. S&W revised the M&P triggers in 2013 so this a mute point if you are buying a new gun.
My suggestion, though, above all else, shoot them. Go to your LGS/Range and rent one of each. See which fits you hand better, which you shoot better, etc. you might be surprised. Myself as an example, as much as I like Glocks they are very uncomfortable for me. The hump in the back strap hits my hand wrong and the grip angle is too much for me, personally. But YMMV everyone's wrist and hand anatomy is different.

+1 on this - when I bought my M&P 9, it was competing with the Glock 19. The ergos on the Glock just didn't fit my hand well and I shot much better with the S&W.

I carry a Shield 9 but have been looking at getting a compact 45 for another carry option. I've narrowed down to the 45c or the Springfield XDS with the 4" barrel (all reviews I've read/watched say the recoil on the 4" is noticeably reduced). But need to go shoot the Springfield first.

I have a pair of mid-sized M&Ps and a pair of G30s. I have not fired an M&P 45c but expected it shoots well too.

I had girl reductions done on the 30s, but did the Apex Carry kit on the M&Ps.

The edge on see on the G30s that compared to the M&Ps, Glock parts are easy to find and offer a larger range of choices. If S&W would ease up on parts availability, I'd go for the M&Ps.

Shoot both if you can and enjoy your choices.

I didn't shoot the Glock but it just didn't feel right in my hand. The 45c did and it was love at first grip.
I only did the DCAEK because in Mass the law dictates a 10.5lb trigger pull and I couldn't be accurate with that much effort on the trigger.
The 45c is a sweet shooting pistol and couldn't be happier with it.

Ras - I think maybe "girl" = "grip" after auto-spell got done with it.

I would like to amend my previous statement. The XDS is no longer in consideration. I rented a 4".45 at the range today. Hated the ergos and, good grief, are they afraid people grease their hands with butter before they shoot? The checkering on the front and back straps is ridiculously aggressive. I can't imagine putting 100's of rounds thru this thing to train with it. Will probably put the 45c thru the paces on my next trip.
