I would like to purchase an M & P 22 and place a suppressor. Does the 22 come with an external threaded barrel already in place or do you buy an adaptor to fit the suppressor? What is a good suppressor for the gun? Thanx for your help...Dr Bob

The barrel is already threaded...if you remove the slide there's an end cap on the barrel...unscrew cap to expose threads...

These threads accept a thread adapter, which provide the correct thread size and pushes the threads out the end of the barrel.

If you are using an M&P 22, it uses the same thread adapter as the Walther P22.

If you have an M&P 22 Compact it uses a different thread adapter. Purchase only thread adapters that are specifically for the M&P 22 Compact.

Here's a pic of my M&P 22 Compact with Silencerco Sparrow:

Good suppressors will vary depending on who you ask; here's three excellent brands:

1 - SilencerCo
2 - Advanced Armament Corp (AAC)
3 - Tactical Solutions

One thing to keep in mind - you will want a suppressor you can take apart to clean. Rimfire ammo is extremely flithy and will cruddy up a suppressor quickly. All SilencerCo rimfire suppressors can be taken apart for cleaning. The AAC Pilot and Tactical Solutions Cascade are examples of "sealed" suppressors that can not be taken apart to clean - but still, their intervals for cleaning are pretty high (1000 rounds).

If you shoot jacketed bullets any rimfire can will be fine. AAC states in their leaflet that the Pilot is NOT to be used with lead ammo. This is the reason I didn't buy the AAC Pilot. I personally own a SilencerCo Sparrow and TacSol Cascade, and they're both great.

Hope this helps for a start...
