With the new CCP division, is anyone running the Shield for IDPA?

I have been a FS 9 SSP competitor for a couple of years now. Since I advocated for the CCP division, I thought I better get my self up to speed.

If you are running it, any mods that fit within the rules that you like or didn't like?

What do you like for an IDPA holster?
and Mag pouches?

Do I put on a Fibre Optic sight? Which one?

Anyway, I just picked up a Shield 9 no ext. safety, yesterday. Wiped it down and ran 200 rounds thru. Various 115gr to 147 gr. Factory and reloads, some JHP, most FMJ. Slow fire I was able to consistently hit a 6in square at 10yds. Controlled pairs - I was seeing a bit of a drift.
I let another shooter, who is a very good competitor run a mag thru.
No failures for him, nor for me in that limited test.

Trigger feels a bit heavy and a bit gritty in dry fire, but not with live rounds.

I am going to do a "25c Trigger Job" (search the U-Tube for that) and will then put a couple hundred more rounds down range.

I do have to find mags - Midway et al don't have them today.

Until I get to 1000 rnds, I won't decide about a replacement Sear, nor Apex etc.

TIA

Every once in a while, I run club matches with my factory stock Shield. The only drawback has been needing to do 2 mag changes on the 20 round stages, rather than just 1 change.

I consider IDPA/USPSA to merely be practice scenarios for carry, so I only use my carry pistols (XDMc, G26 and Shield).
For holsters... I only use inexpensive Fobus Paddle holsters and do just as well as many who use expensive competition rigs.

I've had some people classify in CCP, and one shooter has been using the shield in SSP up to now. However, the shield is their only gun, and they don't shoot major matches.
I don't know of anyone shooting a Shield in CCP who is a regular competitor at major matches. The Master who classified in CCP last Saturday used an FN.
I doubt the Shield will become dominant in CCP level II and up competition because its 3" barrel is an inch short of the CCP 4.10" limit. No reason you can't shoot it in club matches, but I can't see doing much beyond an FO sight for that purpose in the area of modifications. I use a Safariland OWB for my Shield.

By the way, the Shield fits in BUG Division, so can be shot in BUG, CCP, and SSP as you choose. Also, when you shoot the IDPA classifier, you can request the SO enter the classifier in all 3 Divisions.

I had been running my daily carry Shield when we had back-up gun matches.

My plan for the season is to just shoot club, as Oregon is not having a State match this year.

I looked at our results and 3 people shot CCP this weekend, out of 41 competitors.

3 CCP

3 CDP

5 ESP

1 REVO

29 SSP

( I can't really figure out Practiscore's results for comparison - on IDPA.com those same results seem more clear )
