Ok, so I recently got to shoot a G43 next to my EDC Shield 9mm. (I know a guy at a nearby PD that had one on loan.). I'm pretty much a Glock guy, carry them for work, and shoot them a ton.

I fired both side by side and here's what I found:

Shield
- shot slightly smoother (due to being heavier) and was more accurate for me
- better capacity (7/8 vs 6)
- way cheaper than the Glock

G43
-slightly smaller in overall size and lighter.
-shot like a Glock 100% reliable.
-will likely conceal a little easier
-for those who have to have a Glock - now you've got it.

Will I buy one (G43) - jury's out. If I have the disposable income - probably

Last year when I was in the market for a Single Stack 9mm Glock put out a 380, so the next month I bought a Shield and am happy with it. Glock waited too long and I have have 3 other M&P's to go with the Shield.

The g43 comparisons. Are you comparing the size to the shield or g19?

Love Glocks, have owned them for years, currently have a G23 Gen 4 now. When the Shield came out it was my dream carry pistol, which I also own and carry during summer months. My only road block is that I am a .40cal guy, have shot it from day one, (22 years ago) and just prefer it as my caliber of choice. I've invested some $$$ in my Shield, holsters mainly, and just not ready to separate myself with it. I've put more rounds through it that I can count and have never had an issue that others have posted on this forum. If Glock produces say....single stack .40....I might pick one up but I'm extremely happy with my Shied 40. :)

I believe, since he's comparing the G43 to the Shield, the size comparisons were also to the Shield.

This is why we can't always believe the pre-release numbers.
But then, unless the OP actually measured the two side-by-side, perhaps the G43 just looks smaller in size to him. :)

You said " -shot like a Glock 100% reliable. ????
Are you saying then that the Shield was not ????
,
I do not have a Shield , I do have a M&P9c it shoots better than any baby glock , cost less & for 3 years gas been 100% reliable.

I have a few glocks all gen 3 but I just don't get the single stack glock. They are years behind everyone. What is really messed up they released the 380 first knowing the 9mm would sell far more in order to get more sales of the 380. To me the capacity is too small at 6 rounds I'd rather carry a revolver. Unless it's priced close to the shield I can't see a reason to buy it. But as you know they could stamp glock on a dog **** and it would sell like crazy.

Interesting.... Based on the numbers each manufacturer has for their firearm, the Shield in smaller in overall length and width. The Glock is shorter in height, but the trade off there is obvious.

Glock always states their guns height to be shorter than they are they need to start counting the 3/8" of factory mag hanging from the bottom

Sorry - I think it didn't come across like I meant. Glocks just have a reputation for reliability. My shield has been 100% reliable as well.

How did you already shoot one they just shipped on Friday?
I love my shield have no plan for a 43.
I have a m&p bg 380 if I need to go smaller. I am however considering a glock 42 once they have all the bugs worked out

I was made an offer for it today that none of y'all would believe. Heck, I can promise I wouldn't believe it if I read it on the internet. I had to turn down the offer because it came from a man I consider a friend, and I can't take advantage of that.

I bet a tear ran down my cheek as I told him to be patient because he can get one for much much less in the not too distant future..

Love my 9mm Shield.

I had the opportunity to shoot a G42 and was really impressed with the accuracy and trigger but my LCP is way smaller and more concealable for a 380.

I'm sure the G43 is just as nice but when I think about my Shield's assets:

Reliable -check. Accurate - check. Concealable - check. Feels great in the hand- check. Decent trigger- check. Affordable -check.

What exactly, other than the name, is Glock bringing to the party?

I think they waited too long.

Whether they waited too long or not, the point is moot. It is here now and it will likely outsell all of the other single stack 9's. It is a Glock and people have waited for this one a long time.

I like Glocks, but I don't really want a G43. However, my wife is drooling, so I will probably have to get one in a year or so! I just bought her a Shield 9, so I don't know why she wants a G43 too?

I do like the way that the Shield feels in my hand better than the Glock.

Scott. As much as there are others who want the g43 and want to pay alot, please dont. I know there are others out there who will, but why sell your own honesty and character for a few bucks? I couldve gotten the gun blue label too and resold it at a higher price like many will do but thats cheating glock and the buyer. Atleast if you sell it, only break even.

Anyways done with my plea. I wint ever buy a shield because i think its ugly but i wikk buy g43 when any kinks get worked out
