Default Perfomance Center Trigger Job

I'm a Mass resident and own a "Mass compliant" version of the Shield 9mm NMS w/ a 10 lb trigger pull. The way Mass law is written it is perfectly legal for individuals to own and alter these once in their possession. Hence the Apex trigger kit is in just about every M&P here. Considering it's a brand new gun though I'd rather have Smith do the work and keep the warranty intact. I know they offer the M&P Action Package but this wont get me all the way there.

My question is: Has anybody in Mass dealt with the Smith shop in this regard? If not do you think they'd perform the service considering they are basically also the manufacturer of said "compliant" firearm.

I believe you will be happier with APEX because you also can get an APEX trigger. Just shoot a few 100 rounds through your Shield first to make sure there aren't any issues with it and it should last a lifetime. Only the .40 S&W Shield has had "issues". Two Brothers do a polished APEX kit

You do make a good point. Considering I can have the kit installed for $99 (exc. trigger) it might be the way to go. The actual trigger isn't really a concern for me, just the pull weight. I intend to carry this for personal defense and would rather keep it in as stock a configuration as I can.

Thank you!

Give CS a call. I'm sure they know the Mass law and have been asked this question a thousand times before.

Point taken but the APEX trigger is much better than stock.

Well... It seems the Apex it is. Smith & Wesson cs states they perform no gunsmithing services on the Shield. Period.

Thanks for the input.

Apparently they have gotten this question several thousand times before, lol. As we know, they are located in Springfield, MA and residents of Mass as well. Two separate reps at CS told me without hesitation:

1. They offer no gunsmithing services on the Shield
2. They wouldn't touch a Mass compliant gun, for somewhat obvious reasons, being that they're the manufacturer. I too would avoid, even, the appearance of trying to circumvent state law. Even though they understand and agree that it is legal to do alter once transferred.
3. They realize Mass residents are forced to install the Apex kit to make the gun more shootable, but it would definitely void the warranty.

My local gunsmith will install the Apex kit, sans the trigger for $99. Can't really beat that, so Apex it is!

Thank you all!
