Just bought the MP 40c and I'm wondering how everyone shoots it using the magazine without the extra finger extension base.

Do you just curl your little finger under the butt of the pistol ? Using a grip of only 2 fingers ?

That 2 finger grip with your strong side hand feels strange without having your weak side first finger on the trigger guard . Which I guess would be a variant of my normal grip ..

The magazines with the little finger extension I don't have a problem . My little finger has enough room to rest on the extension . I can use my normal grip on those also.

Just got it yesterday and wasn't able to shoot it as had prior commitments all day .. Will be going to the range tomorrow !

I threw the one without the extension in a drawer and replaced it with one with the extension.

I use full size mag's with the XGrip adaptor's.

You,can buy the magazine floorplates with the extension from S&W or several aftermarket suppliers. I like the extra finger room, too.

I bought a couple of X-Grips for the extend magazines I bought but much harder to conceal with the extended mag with the pistol . Plan on carrying it as a back-up on my weak side and using the 10 round mag in the pistol ..

When I received my 40C a couple of years ago it cam with 3 mags - 2 had pinky extension & one didn't. I called S&W to order another pinky extension & they sent me 2 without charge. I also use full size mags in the 40C with X-Grips. Since I also have a full size M&P I can hardly tell the difference between my 2 pistols.

I CC with my 40c with the standard (Small) magazine floor plate.
When I practice, I use both, my carry mag and my other mags which have the pinky extender on them.
There is no difference in my shot placement between the two mag floor plates.
My pinky is under the mag and my opposite hand cups the bottom.
I was always taught the tea cup/saucer way of holding the weapon.
Push with the trigger hand and pull with the opposite hand.

Practice... that's all. No right or wrong way.

Went to the range and was surprised how well I shot the 40c with the flat base plate on it. Wasn't as difficult to grip as I thought it might be using it ..

Groups were not as good as I usually shoot but was finding POA and experimenting a bit the first 15-20 shots .. Recoil was very good for a 40 .. not much more then my PX4 9mm .. after settling down and paying attention to the Front Sight .. groups were 3-4 inches average best 3 shot group of 2.5 inches .. worse group of 5 was 8 inches ..

And it didn't shoot low left as so many complain about !!
