Default a question for bg380 owners using galloway kits

i would like to know if those kits sold by Galloway Precision to address trigger pull etc. on the Bodyguard 380 had any effect on reliability. mine is my everyday carry but i don't feel properly confidant it will work properly. With all the springs etc. Galloway sells, i'd like to know if functioning was improved by the addition of any of these items or if it had little effect.

Thanks
Jim

I can't speak to the trigger issue, as the factory one doesn't bother me, but I did put a Galloway firing pin and heavier hammer spring in to try to cure my light strikes, and if anything, it made the problem worse. I didn't change any of the other springs because I didn't want to jeopardize safety.

BUT- I noticed something a bit shocking. The Galloway firing pin is a little longer than stock, and it actually protrudes a tiny bit, and punches tiny indentations on the primers, when chambering a round. It's probably not enough to touch one off, but it's still a bit disturbing to know your primers are being tapped by the firing pin. I'm not taking any chances, so I removed the Galloway parts and went back to stock.

I had the Galloway trigger in and really liked it. I also have their heavier hammer spring, but I was still getting light-strikes.

Over the weekend, while dry fire practicing, the trigger stopped engaging the hammer completely.

I took it apart to see what was going on, and the tigger bar was slipping over the hammer instead of engaging it. The Galloway bar has a different the profile, I assume to allow a smoother release. Below, the Galloway is the one in front:

The stock trigger bar has a flat profile and perhaps a slight forward slope:

The profile on the Galloway is causing it to release earlier and I guess it is worn enough were it is not engaging at all. With the early release, the hammer was not coming all the way back.

I put the factory trigger back and went to the range. I shot close to 100 rounds of various brands without a single issue.

I may see if I can work with the Galloway trigger bar to get it to work (I really like the difference it makes). I imagine if I angle the front slope a little, it could catch with a solid bite on the hammer. For now, though, I'm back to stock.

Update: I contacted Galloway Precision about this issue and they said their trigger bar should have a flat face, not a sloped face. They are sending me a replacement trigger bar. I will provide a further update once I receive it. The odd part is that I ordered this part directly from them, so it is odd that it is not standard.
