M&P 9mm CORE Ported Barrel/9mm Pro Barrel Interchangeability
I own both the M&P 9mm 5” Core Ported Barrel and the M&P Full size 9mm Pro. I was wondering whether both barrels are interchangeable. Installing the 9mm Pro barrel to the Core Ported Barrel and vice versa as both are identical in sizes. If this is possible, would there be an adverse effect to both firearms’ function and accuracy? I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks..

I think putting the ported barrel in the non ported slide would get the inside of the slide pretty dirty (and maybe make some strange noises) but other than that I don't think there would be any difference in function. Depending on your load, you may not get any benefit from the porting when the barrels are swapped. I can see using the non ported barrel in the ported slide to allow you to shoot USPSA Limited (compensators not allowed)

I wouldnt want all that pressure under my slide that escapes out of the ports on the ported barrel. Theres no telling what kind of problems could come up over that.

Thank you for your insight Bkreutz! Using the non-ported barrel in the Core ported slide to shoot USPSA was my initial plan however, I was not sure it works. On the other hand, I will not be using the ported barrel with the no-ported slide. I will give it a test run at the range. Thanks again.

Other done being messy, unknown problems could occur. I will refrain from doing just that. Thanks for your insight Smitty357. Have a nice day!
