Default M&P 9c finish?

Hey all:

Just took my brand new M&P9c out for its first trip at the range. Everything was excellent, and it ate everything I fed it. When i got home to clean in, I noticed on the rear of the slide it looks like the finish is a little blotchy? It was also like this a little towards the muzzle end. Anyone else experience this?

My 40c and Shield does that as well. A quick wipe down with Remoil and it looks like new again.

As alluded to by Balllistic147, it's probably residual factory packing lube...

I have read that any new gun ought to be cleaned and lubed before its first trip to the range.

It could just need cleaning. None of my guns look like that. Personally, I don't think it's an issue and would just keep shooting it.

However, if it bothers you, call S&W. They will fix it up for you.
