Made the leap and grabbed a shield today
I love my FS .40 M&P but it's tough to conceal
So I ran up to 4 seasons and decided to grab that M&P shield I was holding off on.
$3XX.00 out the door? Sweet! Kind of wish it came with a real case and not a cardboard box but for $3XX.00
I guess I can't complain too much
grabbed a few boxes of 9mm,.40C and some hollow points for my JFrame and was on my Merry way.
In and out in 50 minutes! Sweet the cases in the shop were pretty empty, inventory is way down.
I have a Smart carry for this and with the short mag it completely disappears under jeans.
I have a Stealthgear onyx on it's way for the IWB carry days with the longer mag
this will be making it's way down to Greg Derr shortly .
can't wait to get to the range with this thing

Did it come with a spent shell from the factory test fire? I bought one last week with the date on the box from mid Dec. 2015 with no spent brass. Are they not test firing them.

Nice! Congrats on the purchase. I actually picked one up yesterday after debating it for months. Had a Bodyguard which I figured would be so easy to carry, and it is, but it felt like a toy and I wasn't very accurate with it. Besides, I already have other 9mm so one less caliber of ammo to lug around. So I finally took the plunge and picked up the Shield. Haven't taken it to the range yet but I am already in love. Any advice for an IWB holster? I was looking at the Elite by Multi on Amazon.

Congrats! I'm sure we will both love them
Holsters?
#1 Smart carry. I have one and it works great
#2 N82 tactical pro. I use this with my FS and I love it
#3 Stealthgear onyx . I have one coming in for the Shield.
A friend of mine has one of these for his .40 Compact and I really liked it.

Mine (Purchased yesterday) did come with a spent shell from the factory. The gentleman that sold it to me told me after scanning it: "Oh cool, you got lucky. This one came straight from the factory and not a distributor." Not sure if that makes a difference. Apparently that also made it $30 cheaper, so can't be mad at that.

Loved my N82. It's a bit thicker than others but crazy comfortable and I like the added security of the twist lock

Congratulations to you and to kmanick. The link in this post seems to go to a rifle scope, but the Elite holster is a sort of generic cheapo nylon job. I wouldn't really recommend it. The ones kmanick listed are all good, as is the Aliengear, Crossbreed, Foxx and others. I would also heartily recommend a good quality OWB holster.
A shield is almost as easy to conceal in a good pancake holster as in an IWB and is WAY more comfortable. Try it, you'll like it.

I don't know what the policies are on this forum for posting prices.
$349.00 out the door. (Mods please delete this post if breaking any rules)
Put the Talon rubber grips on yesterday and put 50 rounds through it. I think this will be replacing my JFrame 642, it's much easier to shoot accurately and it conceals just as easily with
the shorter mag in my smart carry.

I really like the shield my brother in law has one, and its a great shooter. I'm wanting one but the little safety doesn't work for me I still shoot handguns left handed. Do they make a model without the safety?

Well, I'll be the nay sayer. I don't like them for my purposes. I'm a pocket carry guy and the shield is just too big for that. If I'm gonna carry in an IWB holsrer I'm gonna carry my M&P9. For pocket carry I use either a M&P380 or my 337. My son has a shield and loves his though.

You're safe, listing prices is one of the few things that's not illegal here - it's actually encouraged.
Sounds like a good deal. Enjoy!

I'm left handed as well, no safety on mine, the slide release is a little bit of a pain in the *** (need to flip it into my right hand) but
the mag release is no problem.

I have both the BG380 and the M&P9 Shield, and I am exclusively a pocket carrier. I use a Remora holster for both. The Shield doesn't fit into all of my pants pockets, but when it does, I like to carry it.
I'll be "that guy" in a different way: I own a full size M&P9 in addition to the aforementioned Shield 9 and BG380. I like shooting the full-sized M&P and I like shooting the BG380. But I don't like shooting the Shield. I am slight of build and do not have powerful hands, and the Shield's trigger and snap are just a little bit on the "dislike" side for me, in a way even beyond the BG380.
Well, I digress. I need to shoot some other 9mm semiautos of similar size to see if I just need to adjust my perspective. I have no intention of replacing the Shield and I do intend to keep shooting it. But if I were to move to holster carry, I might be looking for a Grand Power P11. My FIL handed me his Grand Power K100 one day (though his is called "GPI ST6c") and oooh la la.
Congrats to the OP.

Its actually a slide stop, not a release....thats why its so hard.

So is that why I can't repeatedly pull the slide? I pull it once (with no ammo) and it locks. I can pull my full size 100 times if I want.

can you explain what exactly you mean? Pull the slide with a mag in or out.....what's the issue you're describing?

It would be a good habit to learn to chamber the first round by pulling the slide back and releasing it "slingshot" style rather than using the slide lock as a slide release. - The good thing about the M&P guns is that there is a good aggressive serration on the slide for you to grip
- With the full size, if you have the old style slide stop, you may notice that after about 1000 "releases", the tab will break off at the joint. S&W will replace it for free, but it's a little annoying to have it happen. Fortunately, there is another lever on the other side on the FS.
- The slide stop tab is really tough to use as a slide release so unless you are practicing emergency situations where you have only one hand available, the slingshot method of chambering the first round is easiest.
