Default Shot the shield today

So this was the 2nd time shooting a handgun the first was a 22 and a first for the 9mm. I shot it at 25 feet because the is the range rules and I thought it was a nice little gun. I was on target but my groups were not so good. I think it is purely form, trigger pull and grip breathing Eric. I seem to shoot low and right being a left handed shooter.

I like the gun and will probably pick one up soon and I think I can learn to shoot it well.

quite common targeting for us lefty's . You have two choices (three actually):1. learn correction by kentucky windage. 2. get then pistol and then a trigger upgrade. 3. choose a pistol with a lighter and better trigger for you.

I did shoot the glock 43 as well. I shot that just as good if not a little better. If I buy the shield and have to spend 100+ on a new trigger might as well get the glock.

Perhaps there's a 4th choice. Learn better grip and trigger press. "Kentucky windage" is changing your aim point to compensate for operation errors. Not really a great option.

I'm still working to improve, but today I got 9 of 10 shots on an 8-1/2" x 11" paper at 75 feet with my Shield. And it's all been about improving my grip and trigger fundamentals.

Decided to get the shield. It was between the glock 43 and it, felt the glock had a better trigger but felt a little more comfortable with the shield. The other factor is the shield is 400 while the 43 is 480.

I haven't had my Shield 9 for very long but manage to get to an indoor range about once a week. I bought a full size M&P 22lr first and then the Shield in 9mm a month later. Both guns have crimson trace laser on them and I find that makes grouping a whole lot easier for me. I have lens implants in my eyes and that makes it very difficult to focus on the guns sights. Eyes both open on a dot down range is pretty easy for me. It's not for everyone. I go through 60 rounds of 22lr and 40 rounds of 9mm per trip to the range. I go in with 5 mags of each loaded up and when they are empty I am done. That is not a lot of rounds but I go often so I try to keep the cost of ammo within reason. I got a one year membership to the range for $150 and shoot free during the week, 1/2 price on weekends. I'm retired so I pretty much only shoot during the week, much less traffic in there too. I'm love'n both guns, very fun to shoot.

Default Compact pistols....

Compact pistols are generally harder to shoot, especially as you go up in power. Practice helps.
