Default M&P Shield .40 ammunition

I purchased a shield chambered in .40, when i took it to the range for the first time it absolutely refused to feed the fmj i was using. I tried the SD ammunition i carry which is the federal hydra shock and it wouldn't have anything to do with that either. I took the gun back to the dealer i purchased it from and they gladly warrantied it and swapped it out for a new one. I have put Federals through the new one but can anyone suggest an inexpensive fmj for target shooting?im not really concerned with grains but more importantly the shape of the bullet. I am concerned if its not rounded enough it wont feed. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't be concerned. That first one had issues that's all. All 40s&w will have the same blunt nose

My 40c isn't picky about what is in the magazine; Blazer Brass, Remington, Winchester. It runs all with no issues. Just find what's on sale. Me personally, I don't usually run reloads just factory rounds.

I use WWB fmj in my 40c, either 165g or 180g for practice. It seems to be cleaner than the other brands I've used and I've put close to 1000 rounds through it and it hasn't missed a beat.

I've shot several hundred rounds through mine. Most of them reloads, just started casting a 175 gr bullet in 40 cal and they shoot great also. Both my 40 have settled down recently with no failure to fire or to load another shell.

Even though my Shield is a 9mm, my work weapon is a FS M&P in 40 cal. I use the Federal aluminum case FMJ for practice. Both feed flawlessly and very cheap at Walmart

Mine reliably digests:
Practice ammo: Winchester White Box 180gr, Federal American Eagle 180gr and Freedom Munitions (new) 180gr

Carry ammo: Federal HST 180gr P40HST1

The only ammo I've run across so far that hasn't worked in my Shield is the HPR 180gr New ammo. It would fail to feed in mine and a buddies Shield 40, we shot from the same box so it could have been a bad batch.
