Default Manual Safety on M&P 45

I have a M & P 45 with a manual safety and with very little thumb pressure is required to lock and unlock. Unless you keep your thumb on top of the safety while shooting a USPSA match you will find sometimes you have put the safety on with very little thumb pressure. I Have removed it but would like to reinstall it if I can have the distinctive thumb pressure of a 1911 safety available. Any thoughts.

Do a search on the forum. The manual safety can be made more positive with a little touch up. I've done it on all my M&Ps, all of which have the thumb safety. It's not hard to do but I recommend finding a spare to do the work on in case of a mistake.

Default Manual Safety Adjustment

I searched the threads and no results came up. My initial adjustment was to tighten the safety by compressing the side thumb safety to have a tighter fit with the sear bloc and a stronger spring in the lock up. Improved but it appears that is the best it will get.
Thanks for your input.

Some people like deepening the notch on the safety bar. Not sure if they are adjusting the depth the plunger sits in the notch or touching the sides of the notch to increase the angle. Typically either are done with a needle file. I'd suggest hitting the area with a stone as well. Myself, I just adjust the slope of the notch slightly. You don't need to do much to make the safety positively on/off. Also keep in mind the safety itself isn't as rigid as say most thumb safeties on 1911s, which typically all metal.

I've been pimping OEMs like APEX to come up with an aftermarket safety system that is more positive and with different profiles.

I like a positive safety engage and letoff too. While the safety is off deepen the notches with a small round file. File a little and test.
Don't fool with the spring. That won't get what you want.
