I suggest shooting it too see what are you missing and what improvement would you like to have. I went with the Apex duty/carry on my 45c and I like it, their trigger spring is heavier than the stock though. My trigger pull was heavy almost 10lb out of the box so I kept the stock trigger spring and it is now around 8lb, IMO that's good for a carry gun.
The Apex duty/carry kit replaces the sear and sear spring which reduces pre-travel and shortens the reset. Lightens the pull quite a bit. The included trigger return spring is heavier than the factory version to bring to the trigger pull back up to around 5-5.5 lbs. The kit also includes a re-profiled striker block and lighter striker block spring. Eliminates much of the creep and grittiness often found in the factory S&W triggers.
I like the Apex poly trigger in the compacts and I'dd be very tempted to replace only that at first as it lowers the trigger pull by 14-16 ounces itself. Shorter reset, reduces over travel and take up. The trigger replacement can be enhanced by polishing the striker block and its channel, the sear and the trigger bar. This will usually result in a very nice trigger for defensive use.
