I recently purchased a 9C and really like it. Not sure which i like better my 9c or my sheild with the extension. But i was wondering, if this becomes my EDC, would a 15rd magazine work with the Xgrip, and if so , better then the 17rd magazine ?

I have the 9C also. I did not want the 17 round magazine due to me thinking it makes the pistol grip look longer than the pistol it's self.
I bought the 15 round magazine and the X-Grip they look and work great. I really like the 15 round magazine with the X-Grip.
Good Luck they work great.

Their website states that the Xgrip works with both a 15 and 17 round magazine! Leads me to believe that both mags are physically the same dimensions......... ??

While I don't have any experience with them and the M&P and like the concept of the x-grip, I have seen them cause too many reliability issues on Glocks to trust them on a defense weapon.

What reliability issues have you seen?

FTF's likely due to grip pressure being exerted on the extended magazine. It can happen with or without the X-grip. I talked with Glock inc. about it and they confirmed that if you really squeeze hard with the pinky on an extended mag, it can cause malfunctions. The X-grip doesn't provide the stabilization to prevent it. I now pretty much avoid using larger mags in my glock 26 for defense purposes. It's easy to say just don't apply heavy pressure on the mag with the pinky, but in a life and death defense scenario, I imagine most of us will gripping our weapon extremely tight. I would think the same issues would apply to the M&P.

Thanks for the info Mister X! Next time I'm at the range I'll put mine through the ringer and see if I can duplicate the issue it has with the Glocks.

I have two 17rnd mag with the xgrips that I use at the range never had an issue.

I wonder if the frame tool on the M&P might just provide enough support to avoid the issues I've seen with Glocks.

I know I've put well over 500 rounds thru 17 rnd mags in my 9c and have had 0 issues. When it is in my safe or on top of my desk for home defense, it has a 17 round magazine in it.

There's no 15 round grip size so they are the same outer dimensions as the 17s.

I have a fullsize and compact but I'm limited to 10 rounds any. I do use xgrips but my fullsize mags use compact bodies with extended floor plates so the xgrip is "filled".

My understanding is the magazine body is the same but the follower on the 15 round magazine has a tab that won't allow it to be compressed as far

I was going to say that I thought that the 15 rnd mag was for a .40 cal gun. Didn't know there was a 15 rnd in 9mm I wish there were though as long as the overall length is between the 12 and 17.

I did not realize that the 17 and 15 were the same size. I had the 15 round in the past so that is what I bought for this pistol (15 round). If I would have realized they were the same size I would have purchased the 17 round instead of the 15 round. Purchased over the internet so could not compare them. My Bad.

15 rounds are for restricted states like CO and NJ. If you are not limited to 15, you *may* be able to disassemble the mag, and either trim or replace the follower and regain the 17 round cap. I believe the 15 round mags only have witness holes to 15.

*PLEASE MAKE SURE* you are aware of any local laws before doing so.

A better option is to sell them and buy 17s. They seem to run around $25.
