ZQ1 NATO in Shield/Bodyguard
Has anyone used ZQ1 9mm NATO ammo in their Shield or Bodyguard pistols. If so, is it OK?
Just asking because I do not wish to offer its use to SOL and his Dad if it`s too hot or has caused problems.
It is my go to ammo in my 559 and it is great in that gun but I worry it is too stiff for the M&P 9mms.

If it's NATO in more than name only, it's essentially a FMJ +P round.
Not a first choice in a self-defense loading, unless you anticipate having
to shoot through a lot of barricades.

I've had 2 broken ejectors this year running 9mm NATO in my SCCY. SCCY told me that ejectors are a consumable item. My M&P9 has not had a problem yet but I have ceased using it in the SCCY.

The ZQI appears to have very hard primers. One of my SA 1911 9mm pistols has constant FTF with that, and only that. Here I am talking about the white box that came in battle packs and an ammo can.
There is a second packaging in a multi-color box, still ZQI Nato, but much cheaper. I have not tried that in the SA.
At the range, in a Shield 9, it will wake everyone up.
I've not experienced any broken parts, but I do avoid the white box version if there is an equivalent price/round just because I want any ammo I keep to run in all the guns of that caliber, lest I get caught in the next ammo run.

9mm is already a high pressure round. Going to a +P version, which much NATO 9mm is to run full auto in submachineguns, does little to help in a compact 9mm. Any velocity gain and desired terminal performance is negligible from the short barrel. Recoil and blast increase. Beats up the gun more than standard pressure.
Probably good ammo, but for a different purpose.

I think I will save it for the steel framed 559.
It likes it and handles it well but I will encourage std pressure 9mm for their M&Ps.

I had nothing but trouble with ZQ1 in my SD9VE, hard primers for sure. Got a new striker assembly as I thought that might be the issue, still bothered. I must say ZQ1 was very responsive, after I replaced the striker and still had the fail to Fires I emailed them and they sent me 300 rnds free (what I had bought) but I had the same issue with that batch also.
