New M&P 2.0 issue
I bought 2 9mm m2.0 pistols. One FDE and the other black. I went to shoot them today and the FDE amazing shooter, but my black one the slide locked back after every round. I called S&W and they said send it in and I'm sure they'll take care of it, but has anyone had this issue on any M&P they've ever shot ? It was very accurate for that 1 shot I might add.

That was one of the first things I checked after I made sure it was in the magazine. Definitely wasn't touching any slide stop for anything at all.

I've had about seven or eight a M&Ps never had an issue. The Flat Dark Earth one that I purchased shoots like a dream. One of the best shooting guns I own now.

Mine has run flawlessly. Zero issues. Not a fan of thumb safety so just went with the black model.

I had the dealer take the thumb safety off before I left the shop. Smiths sending me the plugs in the mail to fill the spot where the safety was.

Shot 50 rounds thru all black 4.25 barrel no safety model sku 11521 . No issues and "mostly" hitting center at 5 yds I load 5 at a time . Is it a Glock trigger no but trigger breaks "quicker" than my Shield , still a little gritty with some take up but very liveable IMO . Got mine at local range for 459 , plus they threw in a extra mag . The gun sure is grippy. So we will see how it holds up .

Slide interchangeability
I also bought the 4.25 black version as well as the 5 inch FDE. Are the slides interchangeable between the two? I was thinking of doing a two tone for both guns and swapping the slides and palm swells from one to the other. Not sure though if there would be issues yet. Both are set to arrive at my local FFL this weekend.

apologies as this likely is a dumb question but could removing the safety have any effect on the OP's initial problem?

Have they made plugs to remove the safety on the 2.0 yet?? Did you call S&W to get them? I ask because I called the other day & they told me they were not available for the 2.0 because it was so new.

FWIW the dimensions of the safety cutout on the frame of the 1.0 vs. 2.0 and the corresponding plugs look identical to me. Haven't pulled out the calipers to check this however. Likewise, the dimensions of the ambi safety appears the same as on the 1.0 vs. the 2.0, except that now Smith shaves off about a millimeter on each side, probably to make the overall dimensions a little more narrow and to make it less easy to unintentionally engage or disengage.

Hi James,
To answer your question - Nope. The 5" slide is about 1 inch longer. If you had purchased the same size, then I think they could be swapped. But I would not know for sure. Only a guess at this point.
If you're looking for a two tone look, there are folks on the web that would color them for you. Just an FYI.
Take care, and I hope this helped :-)

Thanks. Is it possible to just remove the safety & not worry about the plugs? My 2.0 is not my carry gun, its a range/target gun so for right now I am not worried about gunk getting in there. If the safety holes being open does not affect the gun at all, then that is the route I will take for now.
Thanks again for your response, much appreciated.

The FDE is a longer slide so no. I love the 2 tone look too.

The one with the issues is the black one without the safety.

They make them and I received them yesterday and put them on today. Perfect fit. The first person I spoke to told me the same thing and I called back the next day and that person sent them to me

I fired it without the plugs and worked perfectly. It was more cosmetic for me and to keep the junk out. They'll send them to you. If they say they don't have them tell them put u on the waiting list.
