Default Winchester White box and your semiautomatic

I have a colleague that has a an M&P 2.0. He has been having issues with a failure to eject with Winchester White box 9mm 115 grain bullets. This happens about 1 out of 50 rounds.

He has no issues with other brands of ammo.

Does anyone have similar issues? Does anyone else have issues with Winchester White box in any of their other guns?

No Winchester here. Weak Sister. Not enough power to fully run the slide. Winchester here is bad JUJU. My opinion is based on seeing several thousand rounds a month shot.

It's not my first choice, but I've shot WWB in a number of calibers out of all variety of pistols, including my Shield 9 and never had a problem. I read a lot of complaints about it, but have probably shot over 1500 rounds of it over the last 25 years -- 9 mm, .45 and .380 out of full sized and compact (and subcompact) pistols. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Winchester White box, 115g, no problem with Shield 9mm or Glock 43. Beretta Nano (been sold) didn't do as well. Preferred 124g.

I've gone many boxes (250 rd. count) of Winchester WB 45 ACP. No problems there.

Winchester White Box is my standard ammo for my older 9mms, P-38s, Astra 600s, etc. It also works great in my Glocks.

It does have some functioning problems in a 3953 and a P-35.

I've experienced occasional FTE's in my series 70 1911 Colt and my Ruger P85 with white box, but had no problem in my other .45 or 9mm autos like the Shield. Gun specific for me.

Although it is not my first choice in ammo, WWB has not been a problem in any of my 9mm semi auto pistols. Shield, Glock, S&W 39-2. WWB seems over priced and under powered to me.

No issues in Glock, Sig 2022 or HK USP. All guns are stock

Some guns just don't agree with some ammo. It's no big deal just don't buy that ammo

Just curious how many boxes of WWB he's fired thru the gun, and if they came from the same lot number? The only WWB I've had any experience with for a while has been the .45 ACP 230 grain ball, and has always functioned flawlessly thru my M&P 45

At least 3 boxes so far. I'm going to guess that they're from the same lot.

3 boxes? So the pistol is still virtually brand new. Shoot some more and I suspect the failure rate will drop to (almost) zero. This is a supposition on my part since I haven't shot store bought ammo in a long time. I seem to recall somewhat erratic operation for the first 500 rounds or so.

I shoot WWB all the time. I have a bunch. Never an issue with running in the pistol. It is most likely to have fliers being non bonded. I would suspect a bad batch or maybe a new guy running the press.

My first box of 100rd value WWB I had 2-3 with dented casings. Googled it and it seems common. Always check ammo.

No problems with the 50 round (racked) boxes of WWB.
Multiple problems over the years with 100 round (bulk) 'Value Pack WWB... FTFire, FTFeed, FTX.

The last time I had problems with it, I took the remaining rounds and lined them up. I could see visible differences in OAL (no micrometers needed). It definitely seemed like WWB Value Packs were the 'Factory Seconds' of the line.

Maybe it was simply a bad lot, but I haven't bought any WWB Value Packs since. Now, if I get ammo from WM, it's Federal Champion (maroon box) 100 round boxes.

I have used probably 1K of WWB in .45 and 9mm, no problems with 9mm, .45 was having an occasional problem with several types of ammo, could not connect it to WWB. Federal is my preffered bulk practice ammo, mostly because it seems to match my edc rounds for poa and recoil pretty close.

I've shot approximately 1,000 rounds of WWB 115 grain FMJ in 9mm without a hiccup through my M&P CORE Pro. My son has had the opposite experience with his M&P .45 to the point where he will not buy it any more.

Whenever I buy a new auto or 9 mm revolver I buy 1000 rounds of WWB to break it in. I've had no problems using several boxes of this ammo. Works well in all my auto and great in my latest S&W 929. After break in I end up with excellent brass for my reloading.

I do not have a Shield, but I have avoided Winchester white box for several years after experiencing numerous failures (failure to extract with double feed and failure to feed) with it in both .380 and 9mm. It works in some pistols, but not in others.

No issues with function or reliability of WWB 9mm in M&P 9mm, Glock 17, 2 Glock 26's, and Kahr PM9, or .40 cal in G23.

115 gr WWB is the most consistent grouping FMJ in 1 of my G26, and close in Kahr PM9. However, the 165 gr. WWB is one of the least consistent grouping ammo's in mu .40 cal handguns. The 180 gr WWB is ok though.

FWIW, I had some eject issues with my M&P 9L CORE and my Glock 19 using 115 gr. ammo. My solution was installing weaker recoil springs. I'm using a ISMI 13# spring in my 9L and a Wolff 15# spring and guide rod in my G19. Both run flawlessly now using any ammo, 115 gr. range ammo to 147 gr. +P SD ammo.
