One of my local stores has an m&p 9 and 40c for 425 used. They also have a gen 3 glock 27 used for 350. I can't seem to decide between them what so ever. Wondering what your opinions would be?

Welcome to the Forum.

IMHO $425 is too much for used. I've seen new local for $429, and on the internet for less than $400.

As far as decision, find a way (borrow, rent, etc) to shoot them both, and that should make your decision. Most people I've spoken with, read, or heard, find them different enough ergonomically that one or the other, feels better. To me a gun lasts quite awhile, less than $100 wouldn't be a factor, unless it was the only factor.

I agree... But I will throw in my experience. I love glocks and smith's and I own guns from each. Like Steve said don't buy until you test them on range. I owned a glock 26 and m&p shield 9. The Glock was a bit snappier for me but both shot very well.

It really boils down to how it feels and how it shoots for each individual. Also how it feels concealed.

For me, I found the shield easier to conceal, more accurate and faster on follow ups. But that is just me. Everyone has their own experience and I'm not going to knock either one as I enjoyed both..... But definitely go rent both and try it.

I also compared baby glock 9 and .40 and the 40 was way to snappy for my taste. The 9 was perfect and enjoyable. Just my experience. Good luck.

Unfortunately there is no where close to me at all that allows you to test. I'm in NY and they don't really do that where I am

Well, do you know anyone that has one that you could go to a range with?

If not, I will say this... I personally would go with the shield. I sold my baby glock and kept my shield 9mm. Again it's a preference. But I did not like the baby glock in.40. If I had to choose between the two you mentioned without a second thought I would do the shield, but the price could be better.

To me a 9c is closer to a 19 than a 26/27. That being said, I own a 27 and a 9c. I edc the 9c and the 27 sits in the gun safe. I cannot tell you specifically why, I just prefer the 9c. Maybe because I like a tac light on my edc and the 27 doesn't have rails. Maybe because my love for 40 is gone and I prefer 9 or 45. Whatever the reason, I love my 9c

I agree on the price being high. The new 2.0 is going for around that price.

Take a Vacation to the US where we have the second amendment. :) If you could it might be worth it.

other than that, Try presenting each over and over. Does the sight alignment and sight picture come up more naturally with one than the other? How does the reach to the trigger feel? Does one just feel better in your hands than the other? Does your support hand have somewhere natural to be? Does one make you wonder why your Thumb doesn't feel right? Stuff like that. No substitution for actually shooting them...but do what you can, to check out the ergonomics.

Both are good guns, it really is a matter of personal preference. I had a Glock 43, that was comfortable enough, and I shot pretty well, and then Got an M&P Shield, and it disappeared when I put it in the holster and felt absolutely perfect at the range...and I'd never go back...but I'm sure there are stories the opposite way out there.

Kind of like buying a car...a long test drive is best, but you can get some idea by just sitting in it.

Without shooting them I would go the 9c. Better grip and very accurate. The M&Pc's just fit my hand better! Fixed the trigger with an Apex kit.

I have a 9c and it has the advantage of fitting your hand two ways: standard 12 round mag with 2 types of bases and full size 17 round mag. I conceal carry with the standard and take the full size to the range; however, the full size is a wonderful backup mag.
As far as improving the trigger, all I had to do was install the Apex standard fully machined sear. It reduced the pull from about 5 lbs to about 4 lbs and it has a smooth pull with a crisp break and a crisp reset. What is not to like?
My non-compact home defense pistol is a Glock 17 Gen3 with a reduced trigger pull.

Interesting how on a non Glock forum people will tell you the 27 was too snappy and the 9mm was fine/perfect. HINT HINT LOL I have told him this many times on the Glock forum. The MP9c and the MP40c have less felt recoil than the G26 and G27 respectively

I believe the OP said 40c not 9c. I have no Glock experience but do have the M&P 40c. I find it to be an excellent gun.

I have a G26 and G27, the 26 is a Gen3, 27 is Gen4, i like the grip texture on the Gen4 better and it helps with the 40S&W but i can only tell a little difference in recoil between the two, if you shoot a fair amount the 27 will be fine.

I have a 27 and a 9c. I much much much prefer the 9c. The Glock is just too square and blocky to carry CCW inside the waist. Also the grip is too short for a firm controlling grip. The 9c, to me at least, is jut the right size and shape.

There is no difference in width. Glock is 1.18 inches thick and M&P is 1.20 inches thick.

Just trying to decide between basically the m&p and glock. Just don't know which and what caliber.

Don't know what to tell you. There is no clear winner. Pick what fits your needs better. Take into account the price of ammo and accessories.

Despite liking Glock over M&P personally I'd go with neither of those two.

Your right but there is a significant difference in size with the shield especially for ccw. As for liking... The shield is a fantastic gun. The shield conceals very easily.

Note: we can't decide for you. Everyone has a preference and if your trying to have someone decide for you, then your going about it the wrong way.

Looking at prior comments. It's been stated by others what their choices and suggestions are but you have to make a decision on what fits you best. I think everyone agrees you have to see how it feels in your hand and if possible how it feels concealed and shooting.

Best of luck!
Mike

I would rather have a Glock rather than a copy of a Glock.

Look at how many police and military worldwide use the Glock compared to the M&P. The Glock is what most well known, reputable defensive shooting instructors carry themselves and recommend. Numbers are their own power, so Glock parts and accessories are endless and easy to come by. No other modern design is as proven and has seen as much hard use as the Glock. If I was recommending specific models, I'd look at a 17, 19 or 26 depending on its intended use and personal preference.

I love the 9c. I tried a Shield 9 and didn't like it at all. Way too snappy. The 9c feels great to shoot.

One advantage of the Glock is you can convert it to 9mm, for range use, by just buying a barrel and a few magazines. I have a G27 with 9mm bbl and really like it. That said, I would prefer to have an M&P 9c because of the manual safety. I bought my G27 used, and cheap, like the one you are considering ...
