New 9mm 2.0 rubbing me wrong
I picked up a 9mm 2.0 and it fits in several of my 9c holsters so I am wearing it around the house. In waist band at 5 o'clock and it is rubbing my skin raw after only three hours had to take it off.
Its a full size but geez if the new c models are this rough I would need a different holster.
The holster I tried to use is a Galco King Tuck. I also have a combat master but its a OWB holster so it shouldn't be a problem.
Am I doing something wrong or missing something?

i dont carry yet but assume it is likely due to the new/more aggressive texture on the 2.0's grips. Seems some others have commented about it being rougher against their skin, having them try tucking in a tshirt, switching to a different holster, and so on to make it better.

1.) Undershirt ? Good excuse to wear the good old wife-beater...my dad wore these undershirts his entire life and never ever beat my mom, he very seldom beat me and my brother , even when we truly deserved a good one ..?
2.) 400 grit wet or dry paper, take them rough edges off. I've had some sharply checkered wood grips that would take the hide off until I made them smoother.
I would try option #2 myself...wouldn't want to be politically incorrect .

I have the 45 Shield. The texture is aggressive on the inner side. You could take some fine grade sand paper and ever so gently knock some of the aggression out. Otherwise I would think it will mellow out a bit with time. You could also put some Talon grip on but I find that grabs at my shirt.

Yep--undershirts. I, too, use the WB,
but mine are black or gray. Oh, I have the 2.0 5", and just got back from a 2,500 mile motorcycle trip. Had it in my belt, in a Clearwater Tactical IWB holster. Never an issue...;-)

I know you said never an issue, do you think it would wear a hole in a t-shirt over time?
I sorta like the grip for a house gun, but really wondering about ever carrying a 2.0.

Yeah--I suppose so. But I think it would be easier and probably better than modifying the grip. The texture was one of the reasons I bought the 2.0. That and it was FDE... I took it to the range and tried the 3 larger grips and went with the M.
Seriously, I have been carrying a Glock G19--really great gun btw--and made the jump to the M&P. I really do love this gun, but it is my first Full Size. I have been looking for other holster options, too. I feel something with 2 belt clips--an AlienGear or GCode would help with the weight and length.

Wear an undershirt. Also know that the more you shoot the gun and/or dry fire it, the less gritty the grip texturing gets. I find mine significantly less agressive after about 3000 rounds of live fire and 15-20 hours of dry fire handling.

I will try it and if it is not bearable, suppose I'll have to buy another gun and see if that one works. Well, darn.
Thanks for the inputs

Great Idea's
I like the sand paper idea from gwpercle and ScaryWoody have and shooting it 3000 rounds would take too long. But thanks for the idea LoneStarWings.
You know that probably saved me from returning it and buying the Pro with a less aggressive grip.
My two M&Ps

I'm gonna suggest trying to replace the palmswell with a older 1.0 version.
By the way, I own a FDE 2.0 and there is no way I'm gonna carry it in any concealed holster that I own. No thanks, I'm sticking to my M&P 40c.

There are iwb leather holsters available that have a shield between the grip and skin for those that don't wear underwear.

A few strokes with sandpaper is a lot cheaper than 3000 rds., and it's instant. Then carrying it for the next 3000 rds is more comfy!

I went the 400 grit route on my Shield45. I was killing my love handles and snaging on my shirts. It didn't hurt the grip one damn bit and now I can carry it.

so basically a light sanding on just the palm swell was enough to take care of it?
The aggressive grip texture has been the one thing holding me from picking up a FDE 2.0 (range/home toy, not for carry) but if a little sanding on a part that is replaceable can help out, that kinda takes away that hurdle to adding one to the collection.

Mine ruined a couple shirts. Said forget this piece of garbage and said sword it off. I have no use for something like that. If I can't use it as a carry piece, then why have it someone is going to get an M&P 2.0 for next to nothing.

You need a good Belt to hold a heavy large gun.
I got this full size for a range gun really. But my 8 year old 9c needs to go back for some new parts. So I am going to carry every day once I get comfortable with it. Need to shoot it and carry some before sending my M&P9c off for a new trigger bar, recoil spring and firing pin assembly.
My new 2.0 is a big gun to carry but I am a big guy at 6'4" and >250. Just wore it to town to drop off paper work and pick up a few things and other then being much larger then the 9c no problems. A really good belt helps I have always used leather double stitched. But went with a Indestructibelt and it works much better then a heavy leather belt with a heavy gun.
After my 9c comes back home I will install some Apex parts and new sights and use it for paper shooting.

Agreed--a good belt is a must for this gun. I'm 5'10" and didn't feel conspicuous with it IWB at all. Open Carry went into effect here as of the first of the year, so I have that option, too. Probably only when I go to an outdoor range, though--don't really like to advertise. ;-)

Apparently, the folks at S&W don't keep up with the competition. Glock tried its RTF2 and it was so bad that, apart from the Vickers Special Editions, it was discontinued. The troopers in Missouri were having holes rubbed in the sleeves of their uniform shirts just from their sleeves making contact with the RTF2 grip frame during walking.
A grip frame that is like fine sandpaper just doesn't do it for me.
After the excessively long wait for the 2.0, I was a bit underwhelmed when the new 2.0 pistol had the awful grip texture, and the PC sear, which could have been put in as a "rolling change" during ordinary production at any point in production. Likewise for the new grip shell. Since S&W now owns the molding company, a new texturing pattern could have been put on at any time.
What I really wanted was the type of modularity that the SIG P320 has with its fire control unit.
The Beretta APX ups the ante on SIG by selling one grip shell which has interchangeable back straps so the user does not have to buy additional grip shells in order to fit the weapon to the user's hand.
As the song goes, "you can't always get what you want."

Try Talon rubber grip tape. It's got just the right texture IMHO. Grippy but smooth on skin. It's only $18 and you can take it off if you don't love it.
