Is anybody else having difficulty getting orders processed with PalmettoStateArmory.com? I placed an order for a Shield on Monday (over 48 hours ago), and it is still in "Processing" status online. I emailed customer service numerous times, and finally received a message back:
"It is still currently being worked on at the Compliance Warehouse. They should be getting it shipped out within the next 24/48 hours."

Is this a normal delay? I have never purchased from PSA. The other online businesses I have purchased from are much faster.

I am also currently on hold with PSA trying to speak with someone about this.

I just got off the phone with PSA customer service.
Based on this phonecall, I will not be ordering from PalmettoStateArmory.com ever again.

I've purchased from PSA before. Never had a problem; usually my items were shipped in a day or 2. Actually I've ordered Shield from them just yesterday, so I guess I'll receive it sometime next week - I'm fine with that, after all the shipping was free.

Update.
I placed another call to PSA. This time a gentleman (I will leave him unnamed at this time) explained to me calmly and professionally the situation. The situation is basically that they are selling 1 of these perhaps every 15 minutes, and that it may take 7-10 business days to ship. They will be switching from "4-10" to "6-10" this week. He explained 6-10 means 6 days a week, 10 hrs per day shifts due to the amount of orders they have related to the S&W rebate.

I feel better after talking to him. The female I spoke with earlier should not have a job in customer service!

I placed an order for a Shield on Sunday (over 72 hours ago), and it is still in "Processing" status online. My credit card was charged for the purchase this morning and, based on prior experience, the PSA status should change to "Shipped" today.

While PSA does not provide instant gratification, there are plenty of other dealers with Shields currently on sale.

The standard Terms & Conditions of the PSA website state, "Non-holiday shipping is typically 5 days for your order to ship." They often do better than that, but as you've learned they're swamped with orders, especially with all the rebates going on. Maybe you could cut them a break? Generally I've had great service from PSA.

I've bought from them on several occasions.

Typical ship time is 7 to 10 days.

My last lower (9mm blem lower) from them took 15 days to get to my FFL.

That's OK, I saved a bunch and that particular 9mm lower was out of stock everywhere else.

You can always tell who the kids are on the forums when someone complains about shipping taking 7-10 days after ordering.

In the old days you would have to use snail mail to order a product from a paper catalogue that was probably out of date by the time you received it. Once the merchant received the order, all paperwork had to be done by hand, including the copious amount required by the feds if they still had the product in stock. Then the merchant would contact the shipper by landline to pick up the product and deliver to it to the FFl, who would eventually get around to calling the final user.

Four to six weeks would have been a normal order delivery time.

I used to buy firearms and ammo from PSA. I live in Georgia and they collect sales tax now, so that pushed them off my list. The order to ship time is typically long. If other companies ship in 48 hours or less they will be at least double that time. Other than the shipping delay I have not had an issue in order accuracy or packaging quality.

I also stop in there Greenville, SC store but the pricing is no better or worse than Cabela's across the street. Plus, they don't honor there own on line price in store.

Never bought any gun from them, but nobody ships next day like amazon prime, you are buying a gun not a pair of shoes, also these are selling like hot cakes, you are not the only one buying online, and yes they probably will charge your credit card first and wait until payment is cleared before shipping.

The best you can do is relax, breath and wait until your FFL calls you. :)

My first carry gun was a Charter Arms Bulldog, 44SP with a 3in barrel.

Snail mail in 1988 took 6 weeks to arrive.

Great gun, well worth the wait.

I placed an order in Nov - Black Friday. My order status did not update for a week - Processing. I emailed them during this time and did not receive a response. I finally called them 8 days after I placed my online order. I was on hold for about 15 minutes to find out that my order shipped the day I placed my order and my new pistol was delivered to my FFL in 3 days. I was a little annoyed at both PSA and my FFL for their lack of communication. In the end, I got over it, since I got a great deal.

I can't remember if I've ever ordered from PSA but I ordered an item from Best Buy a couple weeks ago and needed it by a certain date and paid $13 extra to get it by that date...didn't happen...came a day late. I've learned from experience if I want fast shipping I go down to my local business/Local gun shop and buy it and ship it home in my car! :D

When it comes to a firearm purchase...if I can't save AT LEAST $100 online over LGS...I'll buy locally.

PSA-a bit slow on the fulfillment and notifications, but I will deal with it (and have) for the damn good pricing.

You just need a little patience.

I have ordered two guns at different time from them it took maybe a week to get to FFL. I did order some AR parts on Sunday and they have not shipped. But I am willing to bet they are selling a metric ton of shields right now.

We often want it so badly that we ruin it while waiting for it.

Thanks for all the responses. I've learned a bit or two today.

It is not that I am impatient with taking delivery on the pistol. In fact, I don't need it this week, or even this month for that matter, as it duplicates what I already have. The issue I have is lack of follow-up on multiple email inquiries, and a snotty, condescending customer service rep who answered the line when I placed the first phone call. I regret not jotting her name down. I'll spare any further details of that call. :)

As mentioned, I placed a second call and s/w a gentleman who had outstanding customer service skills. He and he alone restored my confidence in PSA. Great customer service can make all of the difference.

I will give PSA a try again in the future, despite my early-on declaration that I would not do business with them again.

Yep you've learned it all;)

They are always slow, always behind. Always slow to answer also.

BUT, they are always dependable and will come through.

"processing" many times means were out of stock and waiting for more to arrive .. least where I have worked that is what it means ..

I worked for a parts warehouse and our orders were filled and packaged in under 2 hours unless we didn't have the item .. all product shipped within 18 to 24 hours .. very good buy on the Shield I bet they sold out in hours after it was announced .. and even the product arriving won't cover the orders going out ..

I ordered an AR pistol lower just before Christmas. OK, I knew it would be a wait, and in the meantime ordered a 300 BLK upper for said pistol. The upper arrived in about a week.

My status was "processing" for about 3 weeks. I called CS to ask when/if it would get shipped. It took me 40 minutes to get a human being on the phone.
They aid it would ship out later in the week, and I would get a notification. Two weeks later I called back, and after a 45 minute wait, was told the lower shipped by mistake to another FFL, and said FFL was saying it was his for a customer.
PSA told me they were in the process of convincing the FFL that the lower was not his, and after they got it back the would ship to my FFL. I would have liked they not make me wait and just ship another lower, but hey if that's what they do, then ok.
OK, I waited, for probably two more weeks and called back again, this time on hold for only 30 minutes. They then told me it was delivered to my FFL two days ago. I did speak to a supervisor at PSA and he gave me his direct number to call if "you're having a problem with anything serialized".

Total wait on the lower was about 2 1/2 months.

Will I order from them again? Yes :p, they do have some great deals almost weekly, and I now know what I'm dealing with.

Matter of fact, I'm waiting on some Aimpoint deals.

I ordered a shield 45 on Tuesday evening got a tracking number next day Wed morning, gun will be at my FFL by Fri that's excellent service.

No I didn't order from PSA, and probably won't ever.
