M&P Shield .45 M2.0
So I picked up a new Shield .45 M2.0, however I cant find ANYTHING about them online. No reviews. No holsters (although I’m sure 1.0 holsters would work fine), but no mention of the gun at all. Not even on Smith and Wesson’s website!!! Am I searching incorrectly or is this just a brand new release that no one is talking about yet??

Does yours actually have 2.0 on the left side of the slide? I bought a Shield 45 last April and my thoughts are that since the Shield 45 was so recently introduced, it already has all the 2.0 upgrades incorporated in to it.. For instance, mine has front slide serrations, and rough textured grip. Also, the trigger is much better than my Shield 9mm 1.0.
I'm thinking the Shield 2.0 is only available in the 9mm and 40 cal models, and not the 45.

Looks to me like S&W is just making all the Shields with the 2.0 features 'officially' 2.0's.
Will this make my 45 Shield (which I bought in June) more collectible?
When the number produced with 2.0 on the slide exceeds the original release of the 45 Shield (that doesn't have 2.0 on the slide) it should!

I’d say yes! Yours is collectible now! You’ve got a pre-2.0 “2.0”! lol
S&W is confusing sometimes.

S&W IS confusing!
I never understood their logic as to the availability of the safety on the Performance Center Shields: 9 & .40 have, but .45 does not!
My 45 Shield HAS the safety, which I love because it is so recessed (and positive), I can put it on if I ever take the wife to the range, but I'll never put it on by accident!
I wish the larger M&P pistols had the same safety as the Shield instead of that 'paddle'. (Not sure I want the 'paddle' safety)
S&W is also fickle about which sight options are available on different models. (I put the Hi-Viz sights on my 45 Shield)
That being said, I am a fan.
Their product line seems to be getting better each year!

I agree on the safety thing.
My M&P 9 2.0 Compact I chose without that bulbous paddle safety.
However both my shields (9 performance center, and .45 2.0) are equipped with the flush safety. And I don’t mind them at all.
The only paddle safety I’m cool with is on my wife’s M&P .22 Compact.

Cool! I have a "Pre M2.0" I guess in 20 years it will be worth $50 instead of $45.

They never referred to them as the 1.0 until a newer model came out. I am glad that he revolvers were just a "-" whatever rather than a 2.0, 3.0 etcetera. I guess a 2.0 fits in with the digital era better than a dash number. SO a 2.0 is the equivalent of a -1 and a 27-2 would be in today's jargon a 27 3.0 or perhaps a 27.3. Interesting......

I'm asking the same question! Has anyone figured out what if any difference there is besides the M2.0 engraved on the slide?

Me too!
I suppose one could trim down the safety some on the full-size guns, but he can’t make it more or less “flush” as it is on the Shield.
