Default remove rollmark paint

picked up a used PC Shield. Previous owner painted the billboard lettering. How can I remove it? I tried alcohol and bore cleaner, but did work. Can i use acetone on the slide or will it damage then finish?

thx

Acetone first and Xylene next. Let the solvent sit and then go to work with a sturdy wooden tooth pick or kebob stick. It may take a few soakings. Xylene or acetone will not hurt your finish.

Any CLP with a nylon or bronze brush. Let it soak first.

Everything depends on the paint they used. I agree with trying Acetone first. It shouldn't damage the finish on the slide. Remove the slide from the frame first. Acetone might damage the polymer of the frame.

CLP stands for Clean, Lube, Protect. If a CLP works, then the paint wouldn't have stayed on the gun in any case. No, I seriously doubt that any kind of CLP would work.

You may already be doing this, but since you didn't say so I thought I'd mention that I would take the slide off the frame to work on it if it were me.
Solvents and plastic sometimes don't play well together.
Maybe I'm being Captain Obvious here, but since nobody else said it...
