Has S&W slowed or stopped production... maybe because demand is for 9mm in M&P 2.0 and Shields?

Cant find either full size or compact with safety anywhere.

D.

Saw a few 2.0s yesterday while window shopping. Don't recall if they had thumb safeties or not. If you run across a 1.0, I'd grab it and not think twice about getting a 2.0.

I think the fact makes them in runs , and the big money is making 9 mm guns .

A local shop got in a bunch at the beginning of the pandemic, but they haven't had any since.

The 9mm is a more popular cartridge, I expect S&W is producing them in 9mm as fast as they can, which means they are not producing many, if any, in 45 ACP.

I got a good deal on my .40 a little over a year ago because nobody wanted anything other than a 9mm. Nobody (the masses) wants a .40 or a .45 these days. It'll come back around. Years ago, the .45 was THE caliber of choice. Then it was the .40. Now, it's the 9mm. Personally, I think the .40 is the best all around caliber but that's just my opinion. My SIG is chambered in 9mm and I'm happy with that, too.

My son was looking for a Shield in .45, couldn't find one anywhere so he bought a PC Shield Plus in 9mm instead. About a week after he bought it I was in the gun store and the clerk asked if I was the guy looking for a Shield .45 as they just got one in. Too late! He may still buy a Shield .45 someday but for now he's happy with his Plus.

As for me I have Compacts in both .45 and 9mm and while they are both nice guns I prefer the 9mm. I also have a 1.0 Shield 9 that I don't shoot much as the Compact is nicer in every way.

Funny how that goes isn't it? I remember back when revolvers were king and everybody wanted a .357.

It's kinda like dogs. I recall when German shepherds were the bad dogs, then it was Doberman's, then Rotties, and now Pits.

It's come full circle as the Shepherds are now the hero dogs used by the police and military.

People are fickle.

I lucked out last July and got the last .45 M2 my local gun store had. Haven’t seen one in there since. Mostly 9mm and .380 for S&W. And this isn’t some rinky dink place, gun cases were always full or at least 90% full. Don’t remember if it’s owned in whole or partly owned by NC Senator Ted Bud.

S & W re-vamped their M & P model line this year, some models with safeties were dropped, seems they are concentrating on the more popular models.

Been looking for one for over a year I've called Smith & Wesson over five times there's only two models that they are making one model number is 11726 but limited quantities I even called Hyatt Gun Shop biggest in the United States and they haven't had one in over a year I'm in Florida and I got every gun shop I think looking for me one. If anybody happens to see one on the internet at a gun dealer please let me know

Manufacturers are dropping SKU's across the board to focus on their most in-demand products. This way they don't have catalogs full of out out of stock/no ETA/no backorder products. It isn't just gun makers. When (if?) things go back to normal, you will probably see a lot of your favorite products relisted.

I think I bought my Shield 45 2.0 at the right time. Took a while to get it and when my friend shot it he went in to buy one and the LGS couldn't even order one.

I understand that the 9MM is popular, but they are literally falling off the shelves at every gun dealer within 200 miles of here. It is also suddenly easy to find .380 or .40 also. Meanwhile there are zero in .45acp. I think S&W is leaving lots of money on the table. I have spoken to most of the local shops here, they all have stopped taking orders for them, they have dozens clients wanting them and they get nothing but crickets from S&W. I am about a month from just buying a G30SF, I vastly prefer the S&W, but both fit in an IWB and will do the job.

Per my previous post, if you run across a M&P 45 1.0 vs. 2.0, grab it and don't think twice about it.

Impact guns received 2 12473 today, I logged in within 30 seconds of receiving the email, they were already gone, apparently there is no interest in 45………….
