I was visiting the Smith & Wesson website recently, and noticed that they have updated M&P 2.0 models with different triggers than the older hinged design. Has anyone tried out one of these updated models? If so, are they comparable to the APEX triggers on the market?

The stock Smith & Wesson trigger flat trigger is pretty good it's a little too heavy but crisp but if you do a lot of rounds it should lower to about 5 lb as far as how it is to Apex it's not even as good but I would never trust Apex for a carry gun because the springs are a little bit on the lighter side so over high round counts I'm afraid it could result in a dead trigger if it breaks if it's competition then I think Apex is fine if you want a better trigger than Apex OverWatch precision by far is superior but it's more expensive

If you go by the flowchart for the Apex forward set trigger showing the nine combinations of trigger pull weight resulting from the choice of using the factory trigger return and sear springs, or one of the two each of those provided by the kit, the factory springs are lighter than either of the Apex springs, in both cases.

Apex had Dead trigger issues in the past but nevertheless was not impressed with the machining compared to greyguns, overwatch precision etc..

Hello,

I'm also waiting for a chance to go and try and shoot both the classic hinge and the new stock flat trigger. I'll post a pick here it seems some are confusing it with the Apex flat face trigger.

Best,

Tony

I had a chance to dry-fire one of these in one of my local shop. The trigger shoe with the flatter angle and safe-action pad on the shoe, seem to be a decent combo as far as I could tell. They did not have one for me to rent, so I called the shop I most of my business with, and ordered 2 of them.

I will give some feed back when I pick them up this week. Seemed like a little bit less take-up, not much, but a little less and I didn't have any issues with finger placement. Seemed crisp and not bad on the reset and I didn't feel any overtravel. I believe that once they are broken-in, they are going to be a lot better than the hinged ones.

I am going to call tomorrow to see if they can be fitted to the Hinged models.

Good afternoon everyone. I just got off the phone with customer service. They told me that the New FFTS is not compatible with the older 2.0's.

Good afternoon everyone! S&W Customer Service Tech. Stated that the New Style Trigger Shoe can NOT be installed into the Older versions of the 2.0's.

I have had the 2 Individual New Style Trigger Shoe M&P's OR now for about a week. Run flawlessly within the 300 rounds put through them!
I have noticed that there is a little bit less pretravel on them both. One has a little bit smoother Trigger, but NOT as noticeable/positive Reset right out of the box than the other one. The One with the better reset, has a little bit more of a gritty pull to it, but it is smoothing out with a lot of dry-firing and shooting it. They both have less over-travel due to the small over-travel bump molded into they frame. Shooting them both is a pleasure and the ergo's and the natural point of aim, makes 10 yard shots easier/faster than any Glock I have, and have shot.

I would say, make the purchase, you won't regret it. The trigger will smoothen out with Dry-fire and rounds down range. You could also do the .25 polish job on it to help the process along. I haven't done it yet, but I might!

I understand that many different people have different views on many topics. Just because you can do something and it seems to work at first, doesn't mean you should do it!!! NO matter what the logic and reasoning for the Manufacturer's representative has for telling me what she and he have told me, on the two different occasions, I am going to listen to them unless what they are telling me is CLEARLY Dangerous, Immoral, or against the Law.
Joe Blow, who happens to be a former ex-NAVY SEAL/Green Beret/Army Apache Helicopter Pilot with 30 Years of service only being 30 years old, can do whatever he wants, he is the one who will have to answer for HIS/Her reasoning for what they do!!!!

I have a 2.0 Compact 9MM w/the original hinged trigger that’s never been a problem. To date I’ve only put about 400 rounds downrange, including annual LEOSA Quals, but don’t carry it often. It’s just a bit too heavy for my sciatica.

Old Cop,

I have the 2.0 Compact 3.6" for when I want a little less conspicuous carry, and it has the original trigger in it. Although the trigger is better in the 2.0 than the Original M&P's, I do tend to shoot better with the New Flat Faced from the factory!

I get a much better consistant placement and pull with it. A little less pre-travel and no over-travel in my two samples!

Good afternoon everyone! After Given it some thought, I wonder if the Tech thought I was referring to the Shield Plus Trigger Shoe and NOT the NEW FFT of the Newest Variant of the Full Size M&P 2.0 OR?

I am going to call again tomorrow and find out! I don't care to much for the Band Wagon of Apex. I really like what S&W has done with the NEW Shoe on the FS OR and would like to put one on my Compact. I need to make sure it is going to function and NOT void any warranty if I do...

If your a prisoner of a blue state, you probably don’t want to make use of an aftermarket trigger less an overzealous prosecutor will make an example of you should you find yourself a actor in a defensive shooting situation..
