A week or so ago, I ordered one of the new M&P 2.0 pistols in 10mm. While researching it, I came across an add for unissued M&P 2.0 .45 pistols from the Massachusetts State Police. For $500, it is basically new gun price, but came with 3 magazines, night sights and the full case and kit as if it was a new gun.

And it certainly appears AS NEW. I don't see a mark on it and it came with everything as expected, including matching hard case.

I start the paperwork on the 10mm on Saturday.

There was something that the MA State Police didn't like about the guns and S&W refused to change/fix it. At least that's the story being told here. These guns were never issued to troopers, they are from everything I've read NIB.

Ironically, they can't be sold in MA because they aren't compliant with something in the law that is required for civilian firearms sales.

A couple of people in MA tried to order one and it was flagged as "not available to shipment to your state."

Reportedly, the MSP is replacing them with Sigs, but the model and caliber are unknown.

Interesting. I would like to know more of the story. Do you know when they were purchased?

They have 10 round magazines, as do all .45 M&Ps. No thumb safety and no mag disconnect safety. Either could make them "unsafe", maybe, but I'm not up on MA law.

The requirements for civilian ownership mostly center on trigger pull and a loaded chamber indicator, mag safeties aren't required, and I don't think thumb safeties are either.

My understanding is that these were made last year.

I bought one of the first M1.0 M&P45's that I could get my hands on. I already had a Glock 21 and I was very interested to compare the 2 handguns on the range. To me the M&P was a slightly softer and smoother shooter over the G21. The grip angle on the M&P is closer to a 1911's while Glocks always point high for me. The ability to select one of the 3, now 4, grip inserts to "fit" the gun to your hand is a huge benefit. The squarish G21 just plain feels like you are holding onto a brick. I have never had a malfunction with my M&P. The M&P 45 is now outfitted with Crimson Trace's grip laser module and also the, now discontinued, low profile Crimson Trace LightGuard light and it is kept as a grab in the night, nightstand gun.

Nice gun, congratulations! Looks like they’re selling for $565 now…. How long ago did you buy yours? Where did you buy it from? I’m interested in getting one…. Thanks

Nice find...

As said above those can't be sold to us lowly people of The CommyWealth Of MA...

They were made with the Free State Triggers...
In MA guns cannot be sold unless they come with a 10+ pound trigger...

I am surprised that the gun didn't come with the 14 round count magazines that are legal for Police Guns...

So where did you locate these 45 acps if you don't mind telling us

as a former Mass(pothole) resident I can tell you thats one heck of a find.
now as why it can't be sold in Mass is it does not have a Massachusetts complaint 10# trigger pull (seriously) and secondly the Mass state police laser engraving as someone could (would) identify themselves as a Mass
statie. thats my .02¢ and I'm sticking to it.

I did get mine at guns.com and paid $500 plus they charged sales tax. When they first got them, they were selling for something like $470. Now up to $570.

The trigger is not heavy, but there is a lot of take-up which has a poor feel (during the take-up). Hard to describe...maybe "squeeky" or something. "Toy gun like"? Not really "gritty", but for sure not just a smooth movement to sear contact. The break itself is pretty good. I'm hoping the feel in the take-up will smooth out with some use. I don't have any other M&P 2.0 guns to compare to (won't get to bring my new 10mm home for 2 weeks or so).

I ordered one of these over President's Day weekend for $470. It arrived in perfect condition, looks like it was never even handled. Night sights are super bright. Came in a plastic case with 3 mags, 4 back straps, manual and lock.

I owned an M&P 45 1.0 about a decade ago. It shot great but I wanted the shorter barrel. Smith did a great job with the 2.0. The size and balance of this thing really feels like it's just a full size 9mm and not a 45.

I bought a 9mm compact 2.0 a few years ago and have been on and off looking for a 45 2.0 compact. When these showed up I jumped, especially since I was born and raised in MA.

Thought it would be cool to have a gun marked for the Staties :)

Yeah, the first thing I did when I got mine was to install an Apex "flatty" in it, and it made all the difference in the world. Having spent my youth in Mass. I just couldn't resist getting one. :-)

My first ever M&P was a early production MA compliant M&P45. When I first tried the trigger, i thought the safety must be stuck. I purchased it for the challenge of being able to fix the trigger and figured I'd be trading it back in after the project was complete. . When I started, that trigger broke at 12.5#. When I was done, I had it at a nice 6.5. ( Using an Apex sear and a MA trigger and sear spring) Beyond that, I became super impressed with the ergonomics and soft shooting characteristics of the gun. Reliability was impressive enough where it earned a place as my house gun and still
resides in a safe under the bed. As it turns out, it was the first M&P but there have been near 10 more since :-)

It's strange that they would have ordered them from S&W and then turned them down...

Or what I think happened is this: S&W already had the MA Contract; MA State Troopers carry the M&P 45 1.0 guns...

Maybe S&W built the 2.0 guns thinking that the State Troopers were going to stay with S&W and buy the 2.0 guns...

MA decided to buy Sig Guns and S&W was left holding already made guns, so they dumped them to a Broker to sell them...
