I recently acquired an optic ready M&P 4 inch with thumb safety and installed the Holosun 507C 2 MOA with green reticles.

A couple of things that I found interesting. First, mounting was extremely easy with the assortment of mounting plates provided with the pistol. Second, with no adjustments it was dead on at both close up distances and out to 25 yards, no sighting in adjustment was necessary, windage and elevation was spot on. This was with Hornady 135 grain FlexLock ammunition, which I have found, seems to have a relatively flat trajectory and hits point of aim at 3 yards out to 25 yards.

The Hornady FlexLock has a bit of a flat tip that some previously owned semi autos do not love, but the M&P operated flawlessly with them.

Finally, while I very much liked the curved hinge trigger on my Shield, I was was initially a little apprehensive regarding the flat trigger, but found the flat trigger to work very well.

The M&P has extremely soft recoil, easy to rack slide, safety that is easy to reach and operate with positive operation, and overall very comfortable to shoot, at least in my very subjective oprinion. I really can not say enough good things about the Holosun, the green reticle is easy to pick up and accurate.

Just my $ .02 on the subject of the OR M&P 2.0 Compact and Holosun 507C

I still not a fan of the new trigger but otherwise I have the same pistol except with an apex fst kit and 3.5lb trigger pull- curved apex trigger !

Ialso have the green 507C but the GR X2 and the 2moa dot great for small groups but for normal defensive practice I use the 32moa circle only . Mines not a carry pistol yet but one day I may want a 9mm and need an optic , ha .

MY compact has a tighter chamber than older m&p 9mm and is not real happy with my 125gr coated swc but sure likes hst and gold dot bullets . SWC will give some funtion issues about 1 out of 25 for now . Old 124gr fmj home rolled runs fine .

I carry ether a lw commander 45acp with a gold bead front sight or a 5" m&p pc ported adjustable fiber optic sights , 40sw .

Porting

hardluk1,

Good info, thanks for posting. I am curious about the ports on your M&P.

I have a ported Shield PC 9mm that I have had several years and like and while I am really not sure how much the porting might mitigate recoil, never did a side by side comparison with a non-ported Shield, the ports do not cause any issue. However, a few years back, I had a ported .45 Recon that I liked, but even with very clean burning ammo, would soot up the white dot front sight after just a few rounds. I am guessing, and it is just a wild guess, that it is because the porting on the Shield is angled to the side away from the front sight and the Recon ports were straight up if I recall correctly. Does the porting on your M&P cause any issues with regard to the sight?

Side ports on my full size soot up the sight. Some ammo, obviously, is worse than others. Considering how much flash there is out the ports I’ll venture a guess and say it has to help recoil/muzzle flip.

Yea it does soot up the front sight but since I'm not a bullseye / target type shooter it does not bother me . I use a flash sight picture shooting style out to 15 yards and sight type is of less importance for that . I prefer a gold bead on a skinny front blade for target shooting still . Does the ported pistol effect muzzle rise well since I have no insight to have a 5" ported and 5" non-port barrel change muzzle rise I can say so I guess I just not that in tune to suttle difference . Like my wifes 9mm 4.25 core and my 40sw 4.25 it would take a shot timer to know the difference to me not how the recoil feels .
