I just got a brand new 2.0 45 with the 3.3" barrel. I had ordered a spring kit for this and for the life of me I can not remove the back plate. On a 40 it removes like butter after releasing the striker pressure. I have noticed that there is a metal looking plate on the back of the back plate that is NOT there on the 40.

Is there a trick to doing this? Is it stuck because it has never been fired? Please help if you can.

They come off but you will probably damage the plate removing it. The striker sleeve needs to be depressed as far down as possible then with a lot of masking tape around the jaws of needle nose pliers pull it off. There are wings that apply pressure on the side of the plate. If you try and pry the plate from the top with a screwdriver you WILL mar it all up. Good luck. Advice Leave the striker spring alone. If your looking for a lighter trigger pull go to the sear and trigger return spring.

Thank you for the info. I was able to get it off easy.. used a driver to depress the plastic while using a tiny flat head driver with a hammer and tapped it down from the top. Came right off..

I do have one more question. Shouldnt this rail be smooth and not knotched so it doesn't grind on the bullet shell?

It's completely normal. The scallops on the bottom of the cartridge guide are there to help pull the top cartridge in the magazine fully to the rear as the slide retracts. This prevents failures to feed. You'll enjoy your new Shield 45. It's the most accurate carry pistol I've ever shot.
