shield 45 magazine problem

Trying to clean 7 round shield 45 mags. Followed many u tube docs and still can't get the base plate legs to go into rubber bottom cap to re assemble . Wondering if anyone has cleaned them in ultrasonic cleaner, using what media, what results? Any help greatly appreciated.
5000 plus rounds on shield 45, rsa finally broke, screw at end came loose, good luck putting it back together. otherwise no real problems. great pistol. Thanks, Steve

SWSIG; many thanks for the videos and the links going back forever. Read the links and tried the suggestions and reviewed the video's. fortunately, only took apart 2 of the 7 round mags, was able to get one back together, taking a break from the other...
Still have 5 more to do and am leaning towards the ultrasonic method. Was hoping that someone with a 45 shield got as frustrated as me and tried ultrasonic. If I get brave and do it. I'll post the results. Thanks again for the info.

You're welcome! I have nearly 8,000 rounds thru my Shield 45, and I've cleaned my magazines maybe three times, so you don't have to do it very often. Dad Roman's method works well for him, but it requires too much finesse for me. I use my push-the-tab-until-it-snaps method because it allows me to express my aggression about this irritating design.

P.S. If your RSA has broken, call S&W customer service. They should send you a new one for free.
