I received a dealer e-mail advertising it as "NEW" at $599. 4.35" barrel and 30 round magazine, long straight grip frame like the 5.7. No mention of it on the factory website.

Did the dealer...jump the gun? ;)

Nice to see it uses their 5.7 operating system. However, how come it doesn’t come with suppressor threads. It does meet the needs of those who wanted this caliber over 5.7.

Looks like the factory planned a business hour announcement for the new M & P, and the gun shop decided midnight of that day worked to start selling it. :)

I don’t think .22 Magnum is much of an improvement over .22 LR in a handgun. Also consider that .22 Mag cost per round is 3 to 4 times that of .22LR.
Personally, I really dislike the ear-splitting crack .22 Mag makes when fired from pistol-length barrels. Worse than .45 ACP, 9 mm, and .38 Special to my ears, even with hearing protection.

I've had my PMR30 for about 11yrs. Ammo isn't as big an issue once the firearm has broken in. Care has to be taken loading the mags to avoid having FTF's while shooting. I'm sure the same will be said about this M&P model.

The only difference I see between the PMR30 and the M&P is the barrel system on the M&P and I don't see any advantage there. The PMR30 is also over $100 cheaper.

Not knocking the M&P... Just my observations and opinion.

Back in the late 1980s guy at the range let me fire his AMT Automag II and aside from the trigger being one of the heaviest I've ever encountered the muzzle blast bordered on the absurd.

Then the current cost of 22 mag - looking at Midway about $16 bucks is the low end of 22 mag ammo pricing its almost $10 to fully load the 30 round mag. No thanks. Even if 22 mag ammo was somewhat affordable I'll still stick to rifles for the 22 magnum.
