Went to the range today with m y new M&P 22 mag. After I got the red dot sighted in with about 10 rounds I asked my wife if she wanted to try it out. After 2 magazines I was able to shoot it again. Had one FE with magazine #1 after that it ran flawlessly. Round count today was 100 rounds. CCI 30gr. Maxie Mags & Hornady 30gr. V-max. :) :)

I have yet to fire a full magazine without a failure to feed. S&W even sent me updated magazine springs and followers plus I purchased a third magazine and have the same problem. Customer service said it will take 8 weeks for a warranty repair so I will wait until this winter to send it in. I like the gun when it works.

My magazines were loaded for a week before I went to the range. One magazine was hard to load after 15 rounds, but worked fine.
I numbered each magazine so I could tell what mag. was good or bad..
What ammo are you using?

I also used CCI Maxi-mag 40 gr. TMJ, 1830 fps. The Hornady's are 30 gr. v-max. My wife shot 60 rnds. and I shot the rest. All my magazines are kept loaded. Hope this helps...

I put an initial 100 rounds through mine straight out of the box, left it dirty, and then a week later I did a 400 rd. torture test with 7 different ammo types both new and old cruddy stuff. It ate it all no issues.

No Problems M&P 22 Mag

I should have posted this a month ago, right after I bought this pistol. I am very happy with mine! I have tested 13 different brands/types of ammo and had a problem with only one: Winchester DynaPoint, 45gr JHP, 1550fps advertised, #USA22M. For some reason, this ammo fails to extract every single time. Maybe because of the heavy bullet and slow speed?
Otherwise, regarding the remaining 12, not a hitch of any sort. Three of them were on the list S&W published of "what works" and nine were not on any list but still worked perfectly. The best results came from Winchester Varmint HE, 34gr JHP, 2120 fps advertised, #S22WM (five shots at 25 yards, center-to-center grouping of 0.279") and CCI MaxiMag JSP (on the S&W list), #00023 (other data unk) which turned in a five-shot group at 25 yards of 1.071".
The gun is still not fully broken in, I guess, but so far absolutely a joy to shoot. Only one mag comes with it but I bought four more on line and all work flawlessly. I work in a major hunting/outdoor store and highly recommend this pistol.
Unfortunately, I also have to steer folks away from a competitor's pistol, also a 22 Mag, recoil operated. This other one (I hesitate to state what brand) costs about the same but has a 15 round mag and, in testing the same ammo as with the S&W it jams almost every shot on all ammo. Accuracy is good and trigger is good, but it's nothing but a single-shot with jam clearing after each shot about 98% of the time. I knew something was up when I tried to register it for warranty and couldn't. I called the company and they said they were going through bankruptcy and told me to take it to a gunsmith. I took it to the best one around and it has been there four times and still won't work. The chamber was not cut correctly but even re-cutting the chamber didn't help. I have two mags for that one and in one we installed a spring inside of the existing spring to make it stronger. Still won't work, but now locks back, but also now only holds 10 rounds instead of 15. I can't even sell this piece of **** so I guess I have a $550.00 paper weight.
I should have waited for the S&W to become available, but I'm glad they came out with it and I have one of these. I find the trigger to be a bit weird, but other than that it's thirty rounds of pure fun!
Many thanks,
mj

My guns favorite food is 30 year old Federal 50 gr. .22 mag.
