I have a 2.0 subcompact and a 4” Compact. I know the Compact comes in a 3.6” version. Can I put the 3.6” slide from the subcompact on the Compact frame? Just wanna see if I like the feel and balance of it.

To clarify, you plan to buy a 3.6 compact just to switch slides?

Otherwise, the issue is the frame size and slide size of the 4 inch, which appear to be larger than the subcompact?

No. I have a subcompact with a 3.6" barrel, and a compact with a 4" barrel. I know the Compact 3.6" has a 15 round magazine like the standard 4" compact. I wanted to know if I could take the slide off my subcompact to put on the compact frame to see if I like the feel of it. I figured the frames would be different sizes and it wouldn't work.

No it will not work, I just tried it. I have both, a Compact (15rd) frame with 4 in barrel and the Sub-Compact (12rd) frame with 3.6 in barrel. The Sub-Compact slide assembly WILL go onto the Compact frame but it will not go rearward enough for the slide stop to engage or for the slide lock to be rotated to the locked position. Also the Compact frame (dust cover) sticks out beyond the end of the Sub-Comp slide assembly at the front.

I suspect the Compact models with the 3.6 in barrels must use a different shorter nosed frame than 4 in barreled models.
