Another question regarding the EZ9/Equalizer: as I understand it, these two are fired by an internal hammer. So, is it like firing a double action only pistol? Is it a stiffer trigger pull that cocks and fires the internal hammer? Please explain.

Once you load the magazine, insert into the gun, rack the slide, the Equalizer trigger is very smooth and mine releases the hammer with 5 lbs of pull. The slide has to be pulled to the rear to cock the hammer, it's not double action.

I don't have an EZ9 so I can't comment. I bought the Equalizer because it has better features compared to the EZ9. After owning for only a week I can load the 15 round mag without using the included loader.

The Equalizer is also Optics ready and I just ordered a Holosun red dot for my gun.

So, if racking the slide cocks the hammer, are you essentially carrying it “cocked and unlocked “? Does it go into some sort of half cocked position?

The grip safety has to be depressed and the trigger pulled to release the hammer. It is perfectly safe to carry with the hammer cocked.

For added safety you can get one with a thumb safety. I prefer not to have that on any of my guns, except my 1911.

Great pistol have over 1000 rounds thru mine love this pistol.
