Default M&P9 2.0 ACRO

Looking to mount the ACRO P2 I just bought and I discovered that S&W is cataloging an M&P9 2.0 with the slide already milled for the ACRO. Anyone have any time with this one?

You may have to ask S&W CS if they have a acro ready pistol as there's comes with an acro on it and is listed as LE Only ! I like the 2.0 in general but not the acro .

In my old age I find I see Green better than red as far as dot optics go and like the holosun circle dot far better over just a dot for a handgun.

Thumbs up

Put the OPMOD Omega version (that's from Optics Planet) of Viridian's RFX-45 (enclosed emitter) Green Dot on my M&P 40 S&W 1.0 PC C.O.R.E. It replaced my long-time Vortex Viper.

This required the RMR plate (spacer, really) for the ACRO RMR adapter. I must say the ACRO system is a very sturdy mount. Also very versatile, as mine came with two Picatinny mounts (high & low) as well. For me the 2032 battery on the top was a big factor vs. the Steiner & Aimpoint designs.

Trijicon's capstan-style RCR is probably just as strong, and very innovative as it also allows for a direct mount.

I'd think the new factory ACRO cut on a M&P should be a hit as well.

Cheers!

I have been pretty much focused on another Holosun HE 507C for my new 3.6 inch M&P. However, I was looking over the specs on the Aimpoint ACRO which looked very interesting, but appears it is not offered with a green dot, which is a deal breaker for me. I, like many others, find the green dot is much preferred due to it being clearer and easier to acquire than a red dot, at least for me.. Guess I will stick with Holosun.

Aimpoint will care to make a green dot optic when a large contract forces them to care. Aimpoint, like Trijicon, has a focus on big volume contracts outfitting national armies and large police agencies. Everyone else, whether an individual or a small/medium police agency (by US standards) is a second tier customer.

FWIW, if you want an enclosed green dot optic, the EPS line does have better optical clarity than the 507/508/509 series of optics. The older optics have more of a magnification/distortion effect that's pretty apparent when you view them side-by-side.

If your target focused with both eyes open you are not going to notice any distortion or magnification.

Only time I notice this is when I'm cleaning the lenses and actually looking right through it.

Green dots, IIRC, require a bit of science to convert from red, so they are more expensive and difficult to make. For me, the RDS have been fine, but your eyes are yours, not mine.

I have an Acro on one of my Glocks and it has been a good tool for me.

Thank you for the info Beju. I will have to make a point of looking at the EPS next time I am at Cabellas, think they have a pretty good assortment of optics.

I think you're looking for SKU 13353 available here and here.

I'm certainly not throwing away my M&P full size's 509 ACSS for an EPS, in spite of having an EPS Carry on my Shield Plus. I personally don't think that it makes a difference at handgun distances, and I've shot a P-10F with a 507C ACSS at 100 yards when the sun was setting.

However, some people complain that slight distortion or magnification bothers them, and I generally advocate that people are best off looking at sights/optics before they buy. What's right for my eyes/astigmatism/visual cortex/whatever may not be right for them.

Yup I agree, but I do have astigmatism myself and have Owned several Holosun,s/RMR's/a delta point pro/Swampfox's and they all have some magnification/ distortion ect: whatever anyone wants to call it, and I never notice any of this when actually shooting.

The delta point pro had the least, but that damn thing is huge on top of most optic ready slides.

I think some will get an optic and mostly just look through it in their house and hardly ever shoot with it, and get concerned about the window when they are supposed to be target focused and not looking through the window like you would a scope.

Same rule applies to a rifle RDS. Don't look through it.

It takes some training and many rds down range with lots of dry fire practice added to get rid of that habit.

I see people sometimes actually calling a MRDS a "scope" and have to wonder if that's why they are trying to look through it because they think that's how these work, and they become frustrated with it.

I also have to realize that not everyone is going to be a serious shooter like some of us here and they will either get it one day or never.

To each their own I guess.

, If new to dot optics for a handgun mount it on a fun gun first , like a 22lr thats affordable to shoot and easier to learn with . As noted above your focus is on your target with a dot optic but you have to be skilled with a minimal sight focuse if at all on a stock handgun first . Start with Flash Sight Picture style and over time your flash can become less . Heck you should be able to shoot many LE qualifing course of fire with no sights !
