Default Shield Plus Low Left (operator error) Corrected

Think I fixed the shooting low left issue. Yes I know it's the shooter not the gun. Took my favorite pistol, Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm to the range with me this morning.

I fired about 100 rounds thorough the PX4 double action. This required me to fire slowly and pay close attention to trigger pull. Then I fired the PX4; one double action and one single action round. Did this for another 100 rounds. Then I ran about 50 rounds through the shield plus, SO much better. Is the problem completely solved: no. Some more practice next weekend and I think I will have it under control. Knuckle of my trigger finger is a bit sore lol.

Not saying this will work for everyone, but it really helped me concentrate on fundamentals.

people don't do enough dry fire and I have yet to see anyone do it at the range.
Next range trip try something like this, dry fire a dozen times, then fire one live round, dry fire another 12 times, rinse and repeat....

If only Dry Firing took care of the old 'Recoil Anticipation Downward Flinch'.
Sometimes the 'Left' part of the Low-Left syndrome is the difference needed in finger placement between Pistol 'A' and Pistol 'B'. Using the same placement doesn't always transfer between handguns... depending on the Trigger to Backstrap distance, Width of the Grip (even between the Gen1/Gen2 and the Plus), as well as other differences that will change where the trigger finger naturally lays on the trigger.
One needs to find each handgun's 'Sweet Spot'.

I do believe dry fire training is a big help. I believe shooting double action helps. I believe strengthening your strong hand helps. I also believe people spend to much time on what they believe is the perfect finger placement on the trigger. The best finger placement is where its comfortable when you have a proper grip on the pistol. This is what has worked for me over my 21year cop career and another 19 years as a recreational shooter. Most of the time, small adjustments is all it takes. For me the Shield Plus is just to small, but I love it and will get better with practice.

I must be uninformed, I thought dry fire DID help with the flinch.

Get yourself a half dozen or so dummy rounds. Have someone load your magazine randomly with live and dummy rounds. Not only will you actually see if/when you flinch (anticipate recoil) but you'll also get good practice clearing a malfunction.

I had the pulling left issue with my hellcat. I think it was from the grip being so thin, like the shield plus, so I tried the hogue hand all grip sleeve. It is a cheap thing to try and I found it helps to give you a little more grip and seemed to help me with the pulling shots to the left. I put one one the shield plus but haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but I do like the feel of it.
