S&W MP 22 Mag
I purchased one of the MP 22 magnum pistols a couple of months ago. I have had good results during the break in with the CCI Maxi-Mag, and the Hornady V-Max. Fun to shoot and accurate. A S&W flamethrower with virtually no recoil.
Very reliable so far. Make sure you don't push the rounds back too far in the magazine, as the rims need to sort of be "staggered" so that the all come to the top properly for feeding.
Take a look through the owners manual too. Lots of valuable info there.

I want a more compact version, 1” off height and length, 20 rounds, lighter weight for CCW.

Got a review in the April issue of Shooting Times. Sounds positive overall. Gives a M.S.R.P. of $649 but probably less.

I've got about 1200 rounds through mine now with no issues. I put a red dot on it and my wife now uses it as her bedside gun. Run the magazines dry don't lube them, that seems to work best

Mine went back when I couldn't get more than two rounds to fire in succession with out a jam. Turn around was quick (under 3 weeks) but I haven't had a chance to try it out to see if the issue was fixed.

22 Mag ammo
So far, mine has functioned well with CCI and Hornady ammo. Zero failures. However, it will not digest the Winchester Super-X loads.
The W-W ammo seems a bit weak in the knees to me.

Finally made it to the range today. Out of 70 shots fired, only two actually ejected. I kept trying hoping it would loosen up and work but no such luck, so back it goes tomorrow.

I finally got to shoot mine last week. On the first shot, the empty stovepiped and after clearing it, the rest ran like a champ.
The trigger is so heavy, at least to me, I think I was pushing the gun as I pulled the trigger and most of my shots went left and low. Got to work on that.
I cleaned it this mornng, and was surprised at how clean it stayed internally as compared to my M 41 and my 1911 type centerfires, almost spotless. I did examine the firing mechanism a bit closer and ended up putting a mix of moly paste and synthetic lube on the sear area of the hammer and that seemed to lighten and smooth it just a little. I am hoping it will improve with use.
I am used to much lighter triggers like my M 41, the K frame target guns and even a little Kit gun along with my 1911 types, I also shoot some air guns with trigger pulls down around 3 oz.

My gun was returned Friday, 5/10/24 and went to the range today. While it is markedly improved, it still failed to feed or eject around 30% of the time with one magazine and around 70% with the other. At the cost of 22 mag ammo, this turned into a pricey experiment for a gun that shoots reasonably accurate but with terrible reliability.
The first two pictures show failure to feed. You will note the barrel (which S&W says they replaced) is pulled back in both
photos:
This last photo shows one of the FTE's. Note the barrel is forward:
This gun has been the biggest disappointment of my many S&W purchases and while I hope they can make it right, my optimism is waning.

This is disappointing to hear. I inherited a case of W-W ammo and have been debating the purchase of this pistol.

Picked one and 175 rounds with no failures of any kind. I made a separate post on it.

Dropped mine off at FedEx today. S&W says they are sending it to their engineering staff to see what is causing the problems. It doesn't matter who they send it to - so long as it is fixed! Maybe 3rd time's the charm?

Received an email from S&W today. My 22 Mag is beyond repair and being replaced. I wish they had done that to begin with sand save 150 rounds of ammo and a bunch of grief.

Ran just over 500 rounds through the M&P different brands and weight all feed correctly until last 2-3 rounds on both magazines very consistent stoppage on last 2 or 3 rounds. Sent S&W an e-mail explaining situation and they sent out 2 replacement magazine springs with followers. I noticed magazines are slightly harder to load because of stiffer springs. Gun runs as should for 29 shots last bullet still does not feed. Other than that the gun is really fun.

One day shy of a month, the replacement 22 mag has arrived. Now to schedule some range time to try it out...

Sounds like the 5.7 version may be a better performer, or at least I hope so.

Today was range day for the replacement. While it is far better than the original, it still FTF/FTE once or twice every 10 round run. The gun is accurate enough but I sure hope it gets better as it gets 'broke in'.

I live in multiple places, one of which has a 10 rd limit.
Now that there's a 10 rd model and mags I'd like to know if there's any difference in the gun itself. Can the 10 rd mags be used in the 30 rd gun and the 30 rd mags in the 10rd model?
Ideally, I'd like to buy the 10 rd gun for legal posssion in the 10 rd states and use 30 rd mags in the states where they'e allowed.
I keep 10 rd mags for my M&P 9mm's in the restricted state and they work just fine.
I'll also have to lighten up he trigger pull. My M&P 9mm's are all around 1.5 lbs which I'm very comfortable with.

Yes, seriously. My M&P 9mm competition guns are all set up that way (1.5 - 2).
My non-competition guns are in the 4 - 5 lb. range.
