Default M&P 40L PC

I have shot this for several years but would like to replace the sights. I would appreciate any suggestions regarding the options: red/green dot, fiber optic, or ??

Also, any recommendations regarding a possible trigger upgrade?

You are opening a can of if ands and maybe for improvements .

Sighting options can depend on your style of shooting , like slow fire speed match , hunting and your eye sight . So fixed sights as a can of worms too . Might be all black sights were the front sight fills the rear notch fairly tightly can offer the best longer range accuracy But a thin front sight offers quick down range center of mass control and then a fiber rod in a color you see best and that can runs the color spectrum . In my old age I find a brite green front fiber rod works well for me but I still have an old thing front sight with a gold bead on a commander than I still like well ?

Dot Optics come in red , green and a few in amber and dot sizes run from 2moa to 6.5 for the most commaon along with circle dots that can be changed to ether the circle or dot only if wanted . Corn fussed yet .

I ran a trijicon RM02 with a 3.25moa dot for years but changed to a holosun green circle dot close to 2 years ago . For most defensive needs the circle only works well for me out to 40 yards . But the smaller 2moa dot give you the best groups .

MIght be a new dot optic guy a 6moa may make the transition from stock sights to dot optic easier ??

Triggers . If you carry your 5" m&p would wight want to keep a closer to 4lb + pull weight . OIur m&ps all have thumb safetys maybe do to starting with 1911 decades ago and I have a preference for APEX Tactical FST kits and with there curved trigger over the straight . I also like the trigger pull to be close to my 1911 I carry 3.5'b pull weight . Trigger return springs give you some adjustability to pull weight but from the striker fired wall to fire is far shorter along with reset .

There are a few good aftermarket triggers available but I like apex Video can show the difference in stock and apex FST kit .

Older gen 1 apex m&p trigger kits can end up in a mid upper 2lb range to so swapping trigger return springs can a more adjustable heavier pull weight.

I carry a M&P 4.25 thumb safety and apex kit but also have a 2.0 version like yours .

Tell us more about what you using your M&P L for , hunting , sport , just range or defense and more refined answers fill come along.

I would suggest investing in a set of those combination fiber-optic/tritium sights. That way you've essentially got all based covered with a set of all-day high visibility sights.

Thanks for the comments; mostly range shooting. Can no longer see front sight well enough for indoor shooting.

If you can't see your front sight anymore, and you can't get some kind of special shooting prescription glasses or anything like this, then your best bet would be to put a rds on your pistol.

It's a little bit of a learning curve and you have to be patient with it but once you do this I guarantee you will never want to go back.
