My local range also has a pretty significant retail shop. While there this morning one of the employees showed me a new M&P9 Metal 2.0. It felt great in my hand and I bought it on the spot and took it downstairs for a short workout. I only had time for 50 rounds of Federal 115FMJ. After the first 17 rounds I switched to med/large blackstrap. Kudos to S&W for including four back straps and not the typical two or three. There were no malfunctions of any kind. Keep in mind I was shooting right out of the box with no cleaning or lube. After the first few shots while I got use to the trigger and sights I was able to put shots into one ragged hole at 7 yards unsupported. Recoil was very mild and follow-up shots were fast. This pistol begs to be run fast. There is a short take up to the trigger,a defined wall, and clean break which I guessed was around 5 to 5-1/2 pounds. The reset was very short. The sights were well regulated to POA with a slight six o’clock hold.
Needless to say I was happy with this pistol. One of the smartest impulse buys I think I’ve ever made. On the way home I was thinking that Smith ought to extend the line with a Compact Metal.
I’ve got a pic of the target and pistol but I can’t figure out how to post. When I click on the pic icon it asks for URL of the photo but I’m on an iPad can’t get there. Other forums let me go right to photo library and select.
