Default M&P 9mm Compact: Left over piece

Removed the safety from a used S&W M&P CA Compliant 2.0 9mm compact and ended up with this leftover part. Can't find video or Manuel explaining what it does. The gun still runs normally, haven't had any issues. Does anyone know what this thing is or does?

Don't have a 2.0 but my guess would be the detent for the slide stop?

*edit* After closer inspection comparing parts on MGW, that doesn't look like the slide stop detent.

What safety did you remove? The mag disconnect? Are you sure that's from your M&P?

Is it possibly the magazine safety lever? Will the action function in double action without a magazine in the gun? Going through the M&P parts in Numrich that is what it appears likely to be.

Did you follow delete instructions from a video? Did you disassemble anything besides the sear housing block?

I just deleted the safety from my M&P 2.0 compact a few weeks ago. I saw no such part in my pistol.
