Default Red Dot recommendations for new 5.7

Greetings from H Town,

New member, long time S&W collector and shooter. Just got a M&P 5.7 and was looking for a red dot recommendation? Does anyone make a base to put a regular small red dot in the place of the optics mounting system?

Thanks in advance,

Sam

What I've read about the S&W 5.7 is that the slide is cut for an RMSc mount. Standard red dots may fit directly on the two screw holes and two small studs in the slide body. A mini, like a Romeo Zero, would take a RMSc plate, if it is drilled to fit the sight.

I have Holosun HS507kX2 sights on both my 5.7s. The slide is too narrow for many sights. For instance, I like the Vortex red dots but they will not fit. I got my Holosuns from FreedomGorilla and they provided the special screws needed, too.

Thank you to all. I bought a Holosun 507Kx2. Haven't shot it yet but I'm pleased with the quality of the sight and the look of the pistol.
Hope to shoot it Friday.

If it has the RMSc footprint on the slide a very inexpensive choice for a direct mount would be the original SwampFox Sentinel, the MANUAL version, now at Optics Planet for under $115...

This one also has the "shake awake" and auto-shutoff features! For that price you can't hardly go wrong, IMHO.

Cheers!

P.S. They have a pretty good warranty as well.
