I had one. I thought that the trigger was terrible. My son in law replaced the trigger as did you. Took it to the range, and the front sight fell off. Yikes. I gave him the pistol to keep.
Shame on your son in law as he should have noticed it moving before flying away !
A cleaning and some loctite would have fixed the issues or even a couple taps with a punch and hammer to pin the sight in place in the dove tail .
