Default M&P 5.7 Barrel Mod

I have one 5.7 and it shoots great. I have a friend with a 5.7 and he had a Gun smith cut the threaded part off the barrel. He has not had time to shoot it as of yet because of work. I was thinking of having mine done, anyone have thoughts on doing this?

Well, you know what the threaded portion is for. If you don't plan on ever getting a suppressor, then cutting it off is not a big deal. But keep in mind, if you ever want to sell it, you are reducing the resale value, maybe by a lot. Does the threaded portion with thread protector not look the way you want? Not making fun - that's exactly the kind of reason I'd find.
What do you think?

My main concern is, will the gun still cycle like it should, as Paul will not be back for three months I just wanted to know.

To answer your question I will never put a suppressor on the gun. Also I will never sell the gun.

Why do you want the threads removed?? It could impact function depending on the ammo you use. The barrel was made and tested by S&W and it works well, if you start having a problem do not blame S&W.

First, I will not use the threaded barrel so there is no need.

Second I would not blame S&W.

Is that the picture or there's no crown on the barrel after cutting ?
