Bodyguard 2.0 range report
OK, so 48 long hours after buying this little beauty, I finally got to the range.
Short version - it's awesome and I love it.
Longer version. Took it to the range with some boxes of Freedom Munitions target ammo, and a box of Gold Dots. Running the target ammo, it shoots like an absolute dream - not punishing at all. With my previous LCP, I normally found 50 rounds more than enough for a range session before my hand really didn't like it. The Bodyguard 2.0 is much softer shooting, feels great in the hand. The Gold Dots were more of a handful, and with them I got some redness on the web of my hand from the beavertail during recoil. Not terrible, but a little bit sore.
In all, I ran 100 rounds of the Freedom and 50 Gold Dots. Function was flawless with both mags. The mag springs are definitely stiff right out of the box, no way I could've gotten the last 2 rounds in without a mag loader. It got a little easier with each successive loading, so they should break in nicely.
I kept it at 7 yards. I had no problem keeping everything in the head of a standard silhouette. The longer mag is a touch more controllable, but the grip is very comfy with either.
I think Smith is going to sell a bunch of these.

Can you post a photo with something else to give a sense of its size, like in your hand. It looks to me to be the same size as a Shield which would be counter productive for the .380 cartridge. The photos I've seen so far have just been of the gun without anything to give a size perspective.

The size is pretty much as the LCP Max I believe.

It may look like the Shield, but it's definitely smaller. Here are some pics with my LCP.

This is from the website handgunhero.com which is a very useful website.
The image is of a Bodyguard 2.0 over the top of a Shield Plus

Here's a size comparison from Handgun Hero, of the BG 2.0 and the Shield.

It's impressive how the grip has much room for fingers as the larger Shield Plus. Based on my Shield Plus I expect I would be able to get at least a portion of my pinky on the grip.
Everyone talks about the undercut but it looks like the slide being shorter from top to bottom is just as important. S&W did a really good job designing this pistol.

The reduction in the height of the slide is key. You can get away with it because the lower powered load requires less slide mass. I also wonder if the barrel and chamber dimensions have been designed around 380 pressures and recoil, allowing the removal of some metal. The slides on the Shield and the Walther PPS M2 are enormous compared to the BG 2.0, but they have to deal with 9mm.
I noted when I bought my wife a Sig P250SC in 380 that the slide seemed to be the same size as the 9mm guns, with the only attempt at lightening being a divot machined in the top of the still large barrel hood. I guess this is what happens when you try to economically downsize a gun from a larger caliber.

I ran 100rds of Fiocchi and 50rds of Magtech and had no issues.
Before that, the slide would kinda catch on something 3/4” short of being able to lock it open…now it easily racks back all the way. Just needed to break something in.
Fun was accurate at 5-7Y, but I was shooting 1.5-2” left. At 20Y, I was 8-10” left. It could be me, as the sights do look perfectly aligned, but I’m gonna bench it soon and check for sure if it’s me or the gun.

Went to the gun show in Gray, TN a little while ago, pretty much a bust for prices on anything...but, I did get to handle one of the new Bodyguard 2.0's, man that thing is tiny!
I did resist the urge to take one home...need a few more things than another pistol at the moment...but one of these will find its way home with me at some point!

The difference in the barrel hood was obvious. Less obvious was that a .380 slide also has lightening cuts that are absent on a 9mm slide.

Aha! Not owning a P250 in 9mm, that tweak had escaped me.

I kinda like it myself. Looks like these micro 380s and 9MMs ain't going away any time soon. Been strong sellers for quite a while it seems. Seems like it took off after the CS-9--40--45 quit production around 2006 or 2007. Glad I have held onto my CS-9 but this new 380 sounds awful tempting. Just my opinion here.

I handled one yesterday and have same reaction as you. I'm not really into .380s but this is so well designed I'm considering buying one.

Love it, easy to shoot fast and accurate.
A couple hundred trouble free accurate rounds with my new Bodyguard 2.0. T
LCP Max was sold. LCP Max wasn't even close to shootability as the BG2.0.

Watched 'Tools and Targets'....
...he was testing the Bodyguard 2.0 and the result were very favorable. Ate all kinds of ammo, great reliability and he really liked the ergonomics and build quality.

I love the BG2.0, shortly after firing my first one I sold my LCP Max and purchased a second.
I love absolutely everything about it, except both of mine shoot far to the left regardless of how careful I am w/finger placement, trigger control, aiming, etc. (We're talking several inches at 10yds).
Anyone else experience this? I'm hitting the range again tomorrow morning w/a friend so I can determine whether the problem is me or the handgun. If it's the gun I have a sight pusher I can use on the front sight (front sights on both BG2.0's are slightly to the right, but enough to cause that much error?) but I'm saving that as a last resort.

Mine shoots directly to POA at seven yards with Fiocchi ammo but an inch left with Blazer Brass. Front and rear sights are centered.

After watching a few more reviews and remembering how it felt when I handled one, I'm gonna pick one of these up. Called two of the LGS I frequent and neither had one, both have some on order, and both priced them at $399. One of them told me he had two of them, a guy came in and bought one, 30 minutes later he came back and bought another...my bet is that his wife confiscated the first one quickly!

That's a good price. Here in North Texas, they are going for $399+tax. Usually the FFL fee is included in the price here.

It's basically the very same price. FFL fee is included in the price plus, we have no sales tax in NH.

I use both a cheapo off Amazon I picked up for the LCP Max, works fine w/the BG2.0, and my Uplula for doublestack 9mm mags works fine as well.
Update on shooting left: Had both front sights centered by my local 'smith, now both BG2.0's shoot centered.

Thanks for the quick update!
The Ruger mag loader that came with my LCP Max works with my BG 2.0 but not easily on the last rnd. I'll pick up an Uplula and use it for my M&P 2.0 Compact too!

Haven't shot mine yet, but I can't get a loaded 10-rd mag to seat with the slide closed. Even with several firm hand hits. Don't want to really force things...
Anyone else have this problem?

I have to give both of mine a good smack to seat a fully loaded mag on a closed slide. Over 200rds later per BG2.0 and no apparent mag abuse problems.

Same here. Was at the range yesterday with the new BG 2.0 and the first load of the mags was difficult. However, each additional time it seemed to get a bit easier and by 200 rounds, both the 10 round and 12 round magazines were loading just fine.
What a pleasant upgrade from the original Bodyguard. It fits so much better in my hand and much easier to keep on target

Picked up the new Bodyguard today, it was just a matter of time...
Going to try to get out tomorrow and put about 200 rounds through it and see how she does.

Busting out another 250 rounds tomorrow on mine then I’ll do my 1000 round review.

What's the opinion on the front sight? Orange outline isn't very bright. I wish it was as visible as the LCP Max front sight.

Handled one yesterday, nice compact size. A buddy has one and said the recoil is very mild. I think they have a winner and will sell a boatload.
Now- S&W make one in 22LR.

If it turns out that the BG1 sights fit the BG2.0, Tru-Glo makes a set that is much brighter, both the orange and the tritium front sight and it also has tritium in the rear sight. The rear sight slot is a little narrower too. This same set fits the Ruger LCP Max as I did it to mine.

All I want is a nice green fiber optic in the front.

That is a good price.
I paid close to that for mine.
