Is there such a thing as one "generation" of the M&P series being better or more desirable than the next, apart from personal preferences etc?

Both are the 4.5" frame/slide so considered "full size"?

I have two separate examples purchased within a year of one another (2005 ??) the only discernible difference being one has a factory FDE frame, black slide never even fired once since brand new. Both have been DIY fitted with the Crimson Trace LaserGrip's (rear activation) which had me replacing the thumb safety with a properly modified factory part where the original part is kept with the gun.

Times force me to part with them so I'm preparing for what I'm concerned with the assault of those who'll dismiss my examples of being highly undesirable trying to get a bargain basement price, that same old BS so many use when "negotiating"

Completely factory original with fitted plastic cases, in perfect condition etc etc. Any pluses or minuses to this "era" of M&P, something that would be deal-killer's?

Bring on the hard truth, no offense will be taken!

I bought this original (1st Gen.?) M&P .45 (4-1/2") back in 2012 from a local gun shop. It was manufactured in 2009, and was a LE dept. trade-in that came in the original plastic box with 4 SS magazines, night sights, no manual safety, and an extra threaded barrel. I only paid $495, and ended up giving the threaded barrel to my son for his M&P .45 since I didn't plan on purchasing a suppressor for it. It was a great pistol that never gave me any problems...smooth and accurate and fun to shoot. Just recently I ended up trading it in for a new M&P 10mm 2.0 (4.6" bbl.). I can't say anything bad about that M&P .45, and even today, would price it at around $450.
