Default M&P vs. XD

Has S&W ever made a M&P sub compact that would compete with the XD-9 sub compact. It seems that the 3 inch barrel in the M&P would be ideal for CC use.

I have a post on here about the pair or M&P's I picked up this weekend. Bothe the full size 9 and the compact 9. I have a new opinion of the M&P pistols now. They are a great answer to the CCW question that I hear everyone ask. I tested both of mibne this weekend and will not hesitate to carry these for personal protection!

The M&P9c is roughly the same size and gives you two more rounds in the magazine plus the ability to customize the grip. got one... love it...

+1 EOD Guy

In my opinion they more than compete with the XD-9....

I can't stand how XDs feel in my hand. Wouldn't buy one. JMO

I have shot both the M&P and the XD and don't have a problem with either. It is just that the XD is a 3 inch barrel (labelled as a sub-compact) while the M&P is 3.5 barrel labelled as a compact. Wonder whether S&W will issue the M&P in a 3 inch sub-compact version.

I can't see S&W making a smaller version than the existing Compact. I have one in both 40 and 9 and they easily conceal under just a t-shirt with an IWB holster. Plus you’d lose magazine capacity in a smaller frame which is one of the M&P’s advantages.

I've fired both. The XD is ok, the M & P outstanding.

I have the M&P 9c I use for CCW, at the range the other day this guy had an XD 40. he let me shoot it - not bad but I just don't like how they feel. The M&P feels MUCH better.
