M&P10
Now that S&W has announced their 7.62mm M&P 10, it will be interesting to see how long they take to show up in shops. Looks like an interesting new addition to the lineup.

They should start shipping these pretty quick. They have been working on them over a year now so they are ready to go.
What will be interesting is to see how well they group when hot with that pencil barrel. To me, the gun represents one that will be carried a lot (because of its light weight) and shot little.
We shall see!

Got one today from Quantico Tactical. Nice, though I expected the trigger to be nicer, even from a single stage. $1,650 plus tax. No sights (grrrr).

It appears S&W added a few new M&P10 models since this thread started.
M&P10 - Smith & Wesson
They have a couple CA/Compliant versions as well as a (normal) black model standard with a 10 round magazine.

OK, as soon as I get my photbucket account back up and take some more pics. Went to the range today (29 degrees...) and broke the barrel in some. My match load for my M1A did OK, but between the "trigger" (or whatever S&W calls that thing), the crude front sight, the snow and the cold, well, nothing to call home about. Stand by for more after my iPod is done synching the pics...

M&P10
Nice I like the FDE on ARs. That's what have on my MP15. When I first saw the MP10 on SW website they only showed it in camo and was thinking that would look good mixed the FDE but I'm glad to see they offer it in all black now. I asked about a MP10 at PSA the other day and it didnt sound to promising through them. So I'll will have find another dealer to get me one. I saw on GB for $1500 but I can probably save some $ at a LGS.
My mistake that was a CMMG AR 10 for $1500.

I will have to wait till they come out with a heavy barrel, I do not care for the pencil barrels on any rifle. Triggers can be replaced/improved, FDE, camo, black all look good, I just need the heavy barrel. Enjoy.

HOW ABOUT EXTRA MAGS?
What is the availability of extra mags? I have seen a few rifles for sale, pretty slick, but I am skeptical about the availability and cost of additional magazines.

I bid & won one GB yesterday $1625 + $35 s&h only to get a call saying it was sold in store. I didn't think that was allowed according to GB's rules. That's the 2nd time I've been screwed on GB. He is suppose to be getting another in about a week w/my name on it.
I'm giving a week, or two at the most then I'm filing a complaint that should get him booted from selling on that site.
I prpbably shouldn't have spent the $ anyway, trying to get my reloading set-up finished...But 12mo same as cash was hard to pass up!

Ok still haven't heard from the b-tard on GB. I'm filing a complaint. Man I wanted the rifle though, not that I need it but that's beside the point.

Filed complaint w/GB Saturday. Have yet to hear anything back so we'll see what happens...Kinda ticked about the whole deal, but then again I really didn't need to purchase right now, trying to finish up my reloading set-up.
Point is that even though I didn't need to purchase, I did win the bid & was holding up my end of the deal & expect the same on there end.

For those of you who qualify for the LEO/Military Program, don't order from Quantico Tactical. Their price of $1650 is way over what other dealers are selling the same rifle under the same program.
For instance, Bud's Police and Atlantic Tactical have it for under $1100.
I made the mistake of ordering from QT and paying IMO their gouged price.

Atlantic Tactical has them for $1099 also, but you have to get in line. They charge your card while you wait...but guarantee you'll get one..
oh, I paid the $1650 also..ugh

Has anyone seen Magpul 7.62X51, 10 round magazines for sale? I am the unlucky fool who lives in California and those are the only ones I am allowed to have.

Got lucky and only paid 1300 for mine in this messed up market... So crazy, seen them as high as 1800 so far. Sweet guns just saving for accessories!

I saw two on a local shop also at around $1700. It's lighter than I expected. Cool rifle.

They showed up here in central Florida, Florida Gun Exchange, for $1619. Want one but can't justify spending that amount right now so I stayed away!

Trigger: can and yes, was replaced with a Geisele 2 stage. Night and day.
Mags: hard to come buy. Take a number where you can.
Mid-length handguard: that's a yes.
Barrel: Plan is to enjoy the current barrel until I feel like like getting a new barrel. Nothing wrong with a lighter barrel for hunting.
Quantico Tactical's prices: yes, I saw plenty of cheaper prices, but no one had any in stock. On other hand, I know someone who purchased at $1650 and then resold one at gun show for around $3k, at the height of the run on rifles.
So, prices are relative: a $1,000 sticker does me no good if it's not available, but I wouldn't have paid more than $1,650. At the end of the day, that's what the market bore. QTS sold out, and then ordered more and sold out, so no, that's not overpriced according to the market. Overpriced is the same ol' fart who puts the same guns for sale gun show after gun show, and wonders why no one will pay him $4k for his sporterized 98k fake sniper(for instance)

Re: M&P10
Market is just nuts right now, regardless i wont buy or shop anywhere that is marking up over msrp... Couple places around here are charging $3000 for $900 rifles... Lost my business forever. Id say if you picked up a M&P10 anything less then 1700 got a good deal being their so new!

Placed my order with Buds for the Magpul model. Card has been charged. They're saying 2-4 months. Ok with the wait for the LEO price.
Ordered 100 rds from Cabelas and 5 20rd mags from Magpul.
