Default Has Anyone used the Burris Eliminator II

Hello everyone, I am new to this message board, and I hope maybe ya'll can help me out.

I have set up a Burris Eliminator II on my M&P 10, I have had trouble getting it to hold a zero, and I initially installed it directly to the top of the rifle, however, this was too low for me and I was unable to align the reticle with my eye easily, and this caused problems. I have used a Leupold Magnetic Boresiter to boresite my scopes in the past, and when mounted directly to the rifle, I was able to boresite this rifle easily, though when I went to the range, I couldn't hit paper at 100yds. I then used 1/2 inch Burris XTB risers to raise the scope height. This aligned it perfectly with my eye, though I ended up running out of elevation adjustment, just trying to boresite, so I remounted. (both times I used the Wheeler Professional Scope Level) this time I was able to get it sighted in roughly, though I still can't get a decent Zero. Does anyone have any suggestions, I have been using a Caldwell Lead Sled as a rest, and I have never had this much difficulty with getting an optic sighted in.

Has anyone ever used one of these scopes, or does anyone have any suggestions. I am about at Wit's end and I would like to enjoy the benefits of the advance technology, however I appear to be one of the few people that seem to have a problem with this optic. Any comments will be appreciated.

All I can tell you is I ordered an Eliminator III for my Savage 10/110 in .338 Lapua and had it mounted and the people at the Shop couldn't even get it to work ...brand new, straight from the box...over a $1000.00. Needless to say I run a Leupold Mark 4 on it now and am very happy with it's performance.....Sorry you have been duped too....Good Luck.

Default That is disheartening

That is more than a little disheartening. What did you do with your Eliminator III? Were you able to return it? Did you contact Burris? I have and I am still awaiting a reply. I am not a stranger to firearms, and I have never had an impossible problem setting up a scope, I have had ones that weren't easy to set up, though I can't even get a solid Zero on this, and while I am extremely sorry that you have had the same experience, was it the same problem? You couldn't zero it, or was it across the board problems? I really appreciate your response, and I just hope that I can return it, I would much rather have spent the money on a much more reliable piece of glass. Mine is brand new also, well, was brand new prior to my mounting it.

It makes me angry to think I could have built a really nice upper for the 1k+ that it cost me. Or even purchased a .50 cal Beowolf upper.

I actually bought my through my LGS and they just returned it to the local Burris dealer they had gotten it from. In my case the darn thing was completely unusable across the board. You would turn it on and all it would do is light up inside but we could never get anymore out of it. I too was very excited about what the capability of the Burris seemed to be, I was not all that experencied with long range and the Rangefinder in the scope seemed ideal. I was very dissapointed. I don't think you will have any problem returning it wherever you have purchased it since this is not the first story I have heard like this. Seriously...the guys over at Savage forum nicely tried to warn me but i really wanted it and was Very let down. I think if you contact your Local Burris Distributor you may have better luck but I really never talked to anyone but my LGS....The beauty of having GREAT local guys. I almost always go to them first. Best of Luck and i hope it all works out for you.

I wouldn't let one poor review or experience dissuade you. There are a substantial number of very positive reviews online (just google or bing it).

No worries, we need to hear personal experiences (as opposed to all of the "my brother in law said that his mailman had one and ...." stuff that gets passed around so often).

I have been in the same boat as you with stuff that everyone else says is awesome and just didn't work out for me. Still leaves a bad taste in your mouth and just not willing to try it again.

Well, I heard back from Burris, and they requested that I ship the scope to them and if they can, they will repair whatever seems to be the problem, or if they are unable to they will provide me with a new scope at their discretion, regardless of the outcome, I will be happy with a properly functioning rifle scope, and if it happens to be the Burris Eliminator I will be more than happy to put it through the paces and write a review about it. Thanks again for the input. I'll let you guys know what happens.
